Better yet: Always write DELETE and UPDATE statements as SELECT statements first.

@shasha if you don't have time make sure there's a ticket put in for it.
-
@h3ll totally agree. I've got a few companies that I even warn recruiters about now for being shady.
-
@corjaantje this is why I hate GitHubs PR system. People think that by using a PR they're not touching master. You are. It creates a culture of fear around deploying software. Deployment shouldn't be scary. It should be boring and something that you don't even really think about because of how easy it is to do.
My recommendation: don't commit directly to master. Merge into master often, anytime you have code working. -
Let me start off by saying that 18 hours of interview time is unacceptable regardless of if you pay the candidate.
That said, what the company is probably saying, from my experience, is that they don't think your skills match up to the expected salary. Very often companies tend to say "we can't afford you" because they think it's an offenseless thing to say. It may not carry as offensive connotation as "we don't think you have the skills to award that amount of money" but it also doesn't give anything for a candidate to do in the future.
I don't me any offense by this comment; I just mean to speak out of my own experience both interviewing others and being interviewed. -
So you weren't okay with Trump saying he won't accept Hillary winning and not you won't accept Trump winning?
Before you assume I'm a bigoted Trump supporter, I didn't support either candidate. -
@kwilliams Spc bar is synonymous with pause. Cmd+Q is synonymous with quit. People are angry that Apple is forcing people to innovate with them. If apps want to survive them they will add touch bar support.
-
Get over it or stop buying Macs.
-
@kwilliams I have never needed the function keys on games. Also they're not gone. On games they can now be labeled for what they actually do, but I guess that's just bullshit.
-
Why are we so angry that Apple, and partners, figured out how to make a single interface port that handles the functions of all other interface ports? That's the only dann innovation on the MBP and we're shitting all over it. Come on people, Apple gives us way more reasonable reasons to hate them.

I don't know. I just got home from my 4th conference in the past 6 months and am getting ready for another one in 2 weeks. I've hit a point where of you're handing out Gildan shirts, I'm probably not going to take it.
-
Good on you! Use what you know and are productive in. If Vim isn't for you, it's not for you! I'm the future you can use Nano on your Linux servers which is far easier to understand for non-vim users.
-
Are we ignoring the fact that 2 difference cases were used for the argument defaults? NULL and null...
-
@sheriffderek I'm not saying the Asian's are not a minority; quite the opposite actually. I feel like it's ridiculous to say a conference is not diverse when they include hispanic and Asian speakers. Race is much more than black and white.
-
To add to this, I am all for diversification and impulsivity, but we need to really think and take into account everything around us before we scream PC
-
And people say Android fragmentation is bad...
-
@thecrashman because the majority of the user base doesn't use the feature.
-
I was having a conversation recently about this subject. Recruiters tend to look at GitHub profiles to discover how good of a programmer someone is but most people's profiles are really just graveyards of "great" ideas.
