Rob Eisenberg, who started Aurelia, also worked on Durandal and Angular. Can't ignore experience and good judgement. My previous team had a pleasant time with the Aurelius beta.

oh man I remember a tool called Multiple IES that we used for web dev in 2005 or so. Glad that's over.

Is angular 1/2 one of those things where you learn to deal with all the warts with the framework?

Use a mock API in its place, maybe including real example data.

They all have their place. Vim is excellent for viewing/editing large files (e.g. gigabytes).
I program Ruby with Vim, Java with Intellij. In Intellij I use Vim bindings to get bindings that don't break my wrist. -

+1 to helpful compilers; some languages like Elm and Crystal try hard to make the compiler friendly and helpful.

Yeah I can understand that. Different situations have different constraints.

I would rather learn the code and refactor. Otherwise you throw away all the experience (e.g. addressing bugs, design choices).
Of course there are times when refactoring isn't helpful or practical though. -
