I'm on my third job now and each job search has taken 1-4 months. Don't get discouraged. There are lots of crappy jobs you don't want, and the real winners are usually quite picky so be prepared for some disappointment and tough interview processes. Finally landed a job I really love though so it's worth it in the end.

Yep, it's in Lisbon. Great store, I couldn't decide!
-
Update: it's alive!!
I waited two days before turning it back on. No signs of damage. Full back up right away. I realize it might have problems later, but for now it's working perfectly and I didn't lose any days. Hooray! -
@DevPre my wife was on the desktop 😆
-
@Andrian I can't even blame the cat...
-
@linuxxx adventuringpandas.com
-
@linuxxx domain name was through siteground so I don't think we own it. When our contract expires in a few days I guess it is up for grabs again?
-
Also, some context: Fred is our head of analytics. 😂
-
Update: today I released the real version, with multi select for players so you can easily see your own scores and compare to others.
Fred: this is wrong, there is supposed to be just a button to see MY scores. -
Oh god the conflicts...
-
You're blessed if this is really the worst thing you've seen a dev do.
-
@Condor I'm from the US 😆
-
@heyheni yikes. I'm headed to the US, no worries.
-
Update: it's going to be ANOTHER 3 weeks. Six weeks without internet is awful. I might start staying late at work to game on their wifi. It's a game shop, so they understand.

Work provides webcams so people can work remotely and still participate in the stand up via hangouts.
-
Always use protection. You don't know where that laptop has been.
-
Gotta love people who cram a deadline down your throat, then when you finally deliver have no time to deal with it.
-
Also I maintain that it is a rant about software failing at the worst possible time, with an unlikely recovery by hardware. I would say that is appropriate.
-
@Kimmax fair enough. But remember dfox's request to simply down vote rather than commenting negatively?
-
@mrtnrdl window, BSOD, ssd not enough?
-
It will all be over soon....
*sob* -
I see this kind of mistake as a clear lack of proof reading your code. It's like an essay. First working version is a draft. Then you have to go back and look for improvements. So many people skip this step.
-
I wish they knew about the subjunctive.
-
@vadimir indeed, I blame the site.
-
@vadimir there was a drop field. I guess I missed? That's a pretty severe consequence for a simple error. Also a warning when you are about to navigate and lose your work is pretty standard these days.
-
@GrumpyGerman I actually wanted to work in it since it was more interesting and important than the other things I had to do. And I guess he didn't want to!
-
Try to identify some lessons learned, then move on. You'll laugh about it some day.
-
@CorruptComputer I was actually using typescript, but I didn't annotate the function. Otherwise it would have been a compiler error. Double face palm.

My work provides sit-stand desks, and they are great. They sit on top of the desk so you can install them on any standard desk. Game changer!
