My current favourite PL doesn't use a lot of semicolons. I guess it may have a lot of syntactic sugar in its repertoire.

What nibor posted. Australia has a points-based immigration system. I you are young, have a degree, work in a profession that is sufficiently in demand, and speak a community language, you probably tick all the boxes, and the whole affair will be a question of submitting the paperwork, waiting a while, having an interview, paying some money, and moving over.

@notSoCoolGuy Billionaire in what currency?

DXC = ex HP outsourcing sweatshop. The only reason to work there is for work experience on your CV.

If you do weird shit that boxes items, and/or rely on overloadable operators (such as `==`) or methods (such as Equals()), you better know exactly what you are doing.

> I'll run Qubes OS, which means I want 16+ GB RAM to serve those >10 VMs running all the time
@saucyatom A good refurbished laptop will be upgradable to at least 16GB RAM.

Nothing against Belgian waffles,,, but I live in Amsterdam, and quite like me some stroopwafels.
Back to the topic: unless you have insane requirements, a refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad or Dell Latitude that you can find for less than €300 should serve you well, and last for years. -
Where did I read this recently?
Why do people ALWAYS have to repeat old shit? -
After 'You will never speak of this to anyone,' your first question should have been along the lines of, 'how much of a raise and/or bonus am I getting?'

My own experience? I have so far refused to learn Python in earnest because I'm not a fan of its duck-typing approach. However, I learned a few basics in less than an hour just reading others' code. Knowing my way aound a dozen other languages helps.

I learned that in 7th grade Latin class, approximately 30 years ago… why is it worth posting?

Wrong platform for this question.

No, it's not true… many of those who have a degree in CS or a related field still have no clue at all which code to copy from StackOverflow.
-
@QuanticoCEO It's a good book but if you have other works about algorithms already, it's probably not essential. I remember using it in first semester at university, some 23 years ago.

> the algorithm book
You mean Sedgewick's? -
Old news.

119 distinct languages, really? No duplicates or variants of only minor differences?

Also, having the intro in a DOCX file isn't even such a bad idea for those who are switching from Word. -
My work involves, among other things, providing support for Fibre Channel switches made by Brocade (now Broadcom). Their kernels are even older:

So if I read correctly, this is a statement, not an expression?
Fuck that, go back to the cave whence you came. -
Just tell them you're looking elsewhere, and if they don't hurry up a bit, it may be their loss.

@CodeTalker Apple will make it so you can (because if not, they'll be doing to the dogs much faster than they already are), and within a few years, other manufacturers will follow suit.

People have been beating each other up since the beginning of humanity. And while there are currently dozens of armed conflicts all around the world, overall we are living in the longest period of relative peace the world has seen in probably thousands of years.
That said, in my opinion, there are just way too many people on this planet competing for way too few resources. If we could get rid of, say, 90% of the world's population, the remaining 10% would have a much better chance of spreading out and living in peace. -
What the heck is a 'caliculator' anyway?

I saw this rant promoting an article, and thought 'clickbait.' Apparently it's true…
And .to = TrashOverflow? -
It's not all different info, though, it's mostly all the same info with a hell of a lot of redundancy…
