@netikras entitlement to the max.
OP: “Oh woe is me everything is shit”
Someone: “that doesn’t sound right, why is that the case?”
OP: “because I simply must work somewhere I find relaxing”
Everyone else working from home: zero sympathy
Everyone else who has lost their job because of this crisis: rage -
@SortOfTested well no point in debating it.
You’d best get back to making “command decisions” (because that’s DEFINITELY how leaders at big companies refer to them) at the world’s biggest companies.
Don’t waste time bickering with an insect like me. Billions of dollars are at stake! -
@SortOfTested well I take it all back. You’re clearly more of a man than i’ll ever be.
I bet your nickname at all these companies has been “Alpha Dog”. -
@SortOfTested that’s all well and good unless you work at a huge corporation where they’ll just fire you without blinking.
-
@Condor have you experience of deploying kubernetes in a large enterprise environment?
-
That isn’t agile in practice. I don’t know what to call it but it’s not agile.
Agile is good when it’s done properly. Thing is it’s rarely done properly, in which case it isn’t agile. It’s just bad management combined with ill informed dev teams. -
Dev teams should be autonomous and self supporting. They should be empowered to manage their own databases and servers etc.
Having to outreach to a DBA in 2018 is madness. In my opinion. -
What are the little postcards in the background?
-
And why the super slow fade out and fade in.
The only purpose that serves is to annoy people. -
First world problems.
“I can’t plug-in my laptop fan!!! STOMPS FEET” -
Easy solution. Take the entire machine and set it on fire.
-
Why the fuck are you starting banal conversations with strangers on buses?
That’s my idea of hell. -
Centering is a piece of piss since flexbox became standard.
-
Church people.
Lol. -
Product is https://Songbox.rocks
And for those interested in the solution - it seems that in Twilio some numbers are global and some are domestic. So at the point of purchasing your number, you just need to make sure you buy one that’s global.
HOWEVER I can no longer have a nice alphanumeric “from” number.
So previously texts from my company appeared on your device as “SongBox” but now it’s just a random American phone number. -
Holy shit is that that Phillip DeFranco YouTube ball bag?
-
The first one is horrid.
White space is your friend. -
It’s obviously something to do with the word “back”.
When you asked “5 years back I was...”
It gave the wrong answer.
When you asked “5 years ago I was...”
It gives the correct answer. -
It’s not only FAANG who give flexibility and freedom. Many smaller companies give high levels of flexibility these days.
However I have problems with the words “freedom”.
As free as you might think you are, if you really on a monthly income then you are not free. Most of will never be truly free. -
I listen to white noise. Seriously give it a go. It really helps get you into a flow state.
-
Great thanks. Looking for something to message with my parents who have just moved away from Apple.
-
Why the fuck you even spend 1 second trying to read minified javascript?
-
@bittersweet it’s funny I was dealing with this tonight too.
The “on” or “null” thing blows my mind.
If you add “value=1” then you get a “1” in your post data rather than “on”.
However you still get “null” if it’s not checked. -
@gsn16 that’s curtains.
Also it’s behind him so his wife doesn’t see it.
Also what’s the relevance of the “hello world” script? -
@AgeOfRanterance what mummy hand?
-
Wow this has 561 upvotes.
Wow. -
There’s method to this madness.
1) asking for a credit card upfront removes “tire kickers” ie people who are going to use your app but have no real intention of actually signing up as a paying member
2) giving a free trial without asking for a credit card essentially creates double effort in signing up, thus adding friction for the user. You need to sign up once at the beginning and then effectively sign up again when the free trial is over. There is data to show this can hugely damage conversion.
3) if employing this strategy you MUST make it easy to cancel AND send reminders a few days before you take payment. If you don’t you’re a cunt. -
I’m confused. What’s the surprise?
-
@bahua the law?!
Omg you’re one of them. I’m out. -
@bahua that’s the way you see it.
In a former life I was a professional musician in a rock band, signed to a major label. When my songs were on someone’s machine, being listened to and enjoyed, and they hadn’t paid for them, that’s theft.
When that career plummeted and we were dropped from our label, it was because thousands of people were stealing my songs. My IP.
For the record getting out of the music industry was the best thing that ever happened, but the above still stands.
