@telephantasm yeah, I knew he couldn't afford that kind of web app. So I decided to give him a very low price. But all of it went out of proportion. He also asked for a logo, business card(I'm still not sure why he wanted that). But yeah, that price wasn't fair for me. I'm glad I didn't do it.
-
@mgagemorgan that's understandable that is a reasonable issue but the guy had a brand new MacBook pro.
-
Well, changing a simple file is not that bad. But he wanted to do the whole project from scratch editing files in github.
-
@stevenliemberg you'll be surprised if I tell you everything
-
@katbreitin it's so true what you said. After all, I have never regreted leaving that day. At that moment was when I realized that I to respect myself as an engineer if I wanted to be respected in this field.
-
Yeah, I didn't do the job. It wasn't worth it, not even for a 20 guest dinner. I even had to pay for the dinner when he invited me over his restaurant to talk about what he wanted
-
I know the $350 was more than generous but I wanted to help him. I guess he was expecting a $50 web app.
-
Now that you mentioned, the movie and sex would have been a better deal. But probably it wouldn't work because he was ugly... and a man.
-
Just one dinner
-
Just to let you know, I told him I would do it for $350 but he thought it was too much.
-
@Ashkin That's what I did.
-
So, I got an email. She asked me what happened. I told her that I was waiting for more than an hour and I was there at scheduled time. She told me that one interview was extended more than expected and that was the reason they kept me waiting and that was not under her control. I think this is not completely true. That is why people makes schedules. To have control of the time. She is the interviewer, she controls when the interview ends. What do you think? Am I being too judgmental?
-
Thanks.
-
That's the thing, is just a small local company. That's why I was so angry. I thought it was disrespectful. But then, I wanted a second opinion to know if I was wrong.
-
Yes, a real company. I was really excited about the interview.
-
@arminiae I have no idea.
-
@grolofson that's great. Thanks for the answer.
-
@yvang I'm glad there are solution for those that I mentioned. But I tried Sublime a few years ago and didn't work for me.
-
@yvang Yes I did
-
@nijjarjatt I love webstorm. That's my primary option.
-
@drRoss I hate you even more.
-
@skonteam I hate vim and I hate you because you use vim.
-
No need for that type of generalised statement when no one is being disrespectful.
-
@P3t3r6 Is not what I'm trying to do.
-
@nblackburn I'm not defensive, I said that I don't want to start a fight here. But the fact that you said that I have to respect it sounds like I don't respect it. It was an opinion, I didn't insult does who use sublime neither the editor. So no need to say that I have to respect it.
-
@nblackburn What made you think that I don't respect it?
-
@elmediator the interface is not the best. I work with multiple OS and the windows versions is ugly. Sublime has the package manager but finding and configuring packages is another matter. The level of support is lower than other editors. Not open source. Expensive license. The unregistered copy message. I'm not trying to start a fight here. I just said that I don't like it, that's all.
-
@elmediator I didn't say that I hate it. I just don't like it, there are better options for me.
-
@nblackburn What made you think that I don't respect that? was it the question or the fact that I don't like it?
-
@P3t3r6 I don't think so. Almost every picture with code in a rant is using sublime.
