VS, is this seriously a question :-D? Who would want to write Java :-D?
-
One step further: Hash their hard drive!
-
ASP.NET Core is even faster and scales better and also includes npm, bower, etc. support :-)
-
@bdhobare but I still hate the fact, that it takes half your hard drive to install all required Android SDK stuff. Overall Windows 10 UWP is the friendliest environment to build for.
-
@nblackburn they didn't get into data business. Microsoft doesn't steal your data, just one visit of Google costs you more privacy than a lifetime usage of Windows 10.
-
VS Microsoft - most services free and actually functional, uploading apps to Store also completely free
-
Xamarin. Write once, use everywhere. Seriously, the best approach. You write native app with native performance and with native, platform specific UI, you have the best programming language (C#), you can access full API of all largest OS (Windows 10, iOS and Android) and you can fully reuse about 80 % of code if you design the architecture well.

Edge is very good, both from developer and user point of view. I feel the most of the time people complain about it is when they didn't even try it.

And 2017 once it comes out will be even better with the fast solution loading feature. That will be a life saver for those with a huge number of projects!
-
I think that the Linux Subsystem feature on Windows 10 would launch the command without issues :-)
-
@viking8 yes, in C# :-D
-
I think you should run it on another thread so that it is not blocking the UI thread and you are able to run 2018 next year :-D
-
@KeyWeeUsr no no, original one :-)
-
Then celebrate, you don't have a chance to throw money away for rubbish
-
@oskaremil there surely are some serious security risks involved.
-
Replace with Pusheen and it will be flawless :-D
-
Must be much better than the original
-
This is incredibly cool :-D!
-
I don't believe you, sorry

A case in point - one of the classes we have at uni is Operating Systems. In each lab we have 90 minutes to implement a given part of a simple OS. Everything is Linux based, and most of the code is in C++. Also it is impossible to compile and run unit tests outside of the prepared Unix environment. Now me and my friend don't like Linux and love Windows. So we decided to get the OS source, work on the assignment in Visual Stusio, where we get suggestions with Intellisense and smart refactoring. We then use WinSCP to copy the modified source to the Unix environment and have a fuckthisshit.sh script that deletes the previous code (otherwise the make command just doesn't work), extracts the OS, copies the modified files, makes and runs unit tests. Using this flow we have been able to finish both first assignments in about 45 minutes, well ahead of all the other Linux-God-Vim-and-terminal-loving students who struggled to finish in time. So that's why I love VS.

Well apart from the fact that it is still way better than any other IDE, Visual Studio 2017 installs much much faster and you can choose exactly what you need and what you don't :-)
-
Not really. The latest Anniversary update version is REALLY good
-
@peterbetos I think that is actually an attempt of Google to move users to Chrome rather than actual true test of browser capabilities. Edge supports HTML5 video quite well
-
@varundey They use Windows 2000, I think they will discover DevRant in about 30 years at best :-D
-
So, status update :-D . The projectors are now gone. Either the company could not fix it or did not know how to update.
-
@tbodt which is actually weird. They had the "courage" to remove the jack from phone, but apparently didn't have enough courage to remove it from laptops :-D
-
@varundey Yes, for real :-D . Luckily this space it is used just for news and info, but who knows if it is not just a tip of the iceberg and if they don't use this old system everywhere.
-
@hidden I don't have an iPhone (I am invested in MSFT ecosystem), but if I once have it, I still couldn't trade my Bose QuietComfort 20 for any wireless headphones now :-D . Maybe they will update them with a wireless version sometime, but until then, I really need the cable :-D .
-
@gnaaah I didn't post it as an argument against anything, I just found it funny and wanted to share, that is the point of rants here, is it not :-) ?
