Unfortunately even real developers have to sit through the torture that is Wordpress if the client wants it and is familiar with it.

People don't want to learn your bespoke CMS system. Even if it is programmatically better and faster and more secure.

It sucks a bit. But you have to understand the needs of the client.

All the time. It's because you've stepped away from the problem but your mind is still catching up and rationalising the problem in the background. If I'm stuck on something at work I'll step outside and often the solutions come to me then.

Dev should not have server reboot access. Lead Dev should be the only one who has that, or, like in my company, the Dev team understands that rebooting a production server is a very serious thing with potential repercussions. I know DevOps and all that jazz but cmon.
