when a dev fixes a memory leek issue but rebooting the server, and when ask why the production application crashes he casualty replies "I don't know but I restarted the server and its fine now..."

    oh and the best part is when you realize the official fix is a script to restart the server every night....

    Rebooting is not a long term solution. Finding the problem and fixing it is.

    Dev should not have server reboot access. Lead Dev should be the only one who has that, or, like in my company, the Dev team understands that rebooting a production server is a very serious thing with potential repercussions. I know DevOps and all that jazz but cmon.

    Do. Not. Reboot. Production. Servers.

    Hell, we don't even reboot our internal office Dev server without serious reasons.

    I feel you guys, when I got this handed to me It was a WTF moment...
    I've benn cleaning up janitor style to get this ship back on the sea, we now tomcat restart only one a week at midnight just to be safe since logging and monitoring is still not up to my taste
