Next dev comes around with backend for frontend pattern 😅😅😅
-
@Kvaibhav01 I never ranted about windows update. But the latest spring update caused a lot of issues for me 😔
-
Would love to see that happening to Elliot in Mr robot. If anybody has connections make that happen please 😄
-
I don't see an issue here as long as the request gets rejected - as a backend guy I love to see some people doing basic validation. Preventing a lot of calls resulting in a 400 and also improving the UX.

@epse oh I feel you man
-
@epse what is hindering you from using any other OS? My experience with that is - you only need to make sure it runs on the computers there.

Mhm honestly I am using windows for more than a decade now and honestly (without looking at Windows ME and Vista) I was pretty satisfied with the OS as it is.
The only thing that bugs me now ist that my windows that I updated from 7 now has some real issues with index creation and refreshing state in the explorer.
These machines all had some sort of dual boot setups - but I was really into gaming that days therefore Windows always was my first boot priority. Now I boot it primarily into MacOS.
In 2010 I bought a mac book pro which I use until today. And I think the thing I like the most about macs is the OS. For me it combines best of both worlds. Linux like experienced - coated with an opinionated layer which barely needs any setup.
Back from my long post: Don't bash windows that hard - imho it is not as shabby as everybody makes it sound. -
Deployed stuff to production, besides having some errors with automatic migration scripts most of it went quite well.
Only thing that sucked is the performance of one of the new services. We now went back to re-enable the feature somewhere else but still I guess it will take me the whole week to improve it 😑 -
@billgates has been a few years but even the iPhone does look a lot like this if you are that close to the metal 😉
-
@jpichardo I meant the ultra wide 😂
-
Was waiting for the guy to rotate it and use it vertically 😄
-
That Shop may get a nice traffic spike today 😉

Still I am a bit confused about how hard it is supposed to understand the pointer concept. Why is everybody ranting about it. I understand ranting about manually freeing your stuff since it can be cumbersome - but concept wise I think it is really straightforward.

Branch protection is a thing - second action I take after creating an initial commit

"Yolo shit to prod"
-
And I thought there were only settings. Now I feel stupid.
-
@M3PHISTOS what is your main programming language - want to try out the font you mentioned. I am working for the most of my time with Java. Do you still think it would be worth to switch to it?
-
@jmacmi2 ++ for the still caring thing. Sometimes it is hard to reject a pull request for the 2nd or 3rd time.
-
Never used gitlab so far therefore I wondered which tool you are using. My experience is a bit limited to Atlassian stuff (bitbucket) and jenkins for CI / CD. Thanks for telling me
-
What's that ui and what do the checkmark and the x mean?
-
Using sublime but definitely trying out VS Code during the next weeks
-
@AL1L just used it personally (to support myself a bit). Think it should log the movement and tracking of tasks. And therefore work quite well. I just didn't want to start with tools in my first post.
Maybe it would be worth for OP to read into kanban. -
I don't know how you are working, we are using scrum and by supporting it with some tools the priority and status are always (or most of the time) visible and can be tracked back.
Maybe you can find some lightweight tool to work with your boss to manage tasks you should be doing. And with that whenever he gets to you to change the priority he will do it which then later could be looked into.
Next time you could be saying: see the other task was moved by you to the top. You also should make clear that you don't want /can/should multi-task since it takes away from your productivity.
Gl with working that out -
Bought a mac book pro 7 years ago for 999$ - best machine I ever owned in terms of usage per $. Updated the ram and got a SSD for it so now it still runs decent (as good as core2duo can).
I love that my employer is offering me a mac book pro for work - just would not buy me a personal one of the price development during the last years. -
What let you think otherwise? At my current job (first after university) we use microservices created with spring-boot. I like it so far even though I don't have that much experience with other frameworks.

It is active, it even made me realize how loud the highway besides our office is.
