After looking around and researching four days I think I found the perfect one. Everything you need plus a back lit keyboard which was a must for me.

Idk, me and my buddies talked about it. Us and anyone we know uses Bluetooth speakers or headphones. I get there's quality lose, but I think a large majority of people would take the ease and convenience for a quality lose most won't notice. Especially as Bluetooth continues to evolve.

My company in a nutshell, the freedom to fail is awesome, but can create some extra work lol. Nice to have the option though lol.

@jeffalyanak
And yes, some of their demo might not care if they can replace a hardrive, but as anyone in the dev community can tell you, there are many iOS shops. Those shops employ devs, those devs care about those things. So yes, while most might not care, some do, and that design choice does not make it a good design. Design is more than just looking pretty, design is functionality.
You mention that the demo doesn't care if they have to flip the mouse and cant use it while it charges. First that's kinda assuming a bit. Second, ask any user who had that mouse die mid use if they care, I bet they did. Having to buy 2 mouses or pause work for a half hour so that something looks 'seamless' is a poor design. -
@jeffalyanak Forefront of the industry by design? I think not, they do it through marketing, their ecosystem, and software.
You mention the iPod was just design, that's just wrong. They had the ecosystem, they had iTunes (the software) they had a great marketing campaign. It was soooo much more than just design. You mention it was easy to operate and understand, a lot of that was software, again.
I do agree that not targeting power users like us works well for them. Apple products are fantastic for average users, they are easy, self-contained, they all connect and are intuitive, granted at a highly inflated price, but such is business. -
@jeffalyanak build quality, sure, they are built with great materials. Design wise though, they aren't great, sometimes even right out horrible. Don't believe me, replace a hard drive on an Apple desktop, try to charge a magic mouse while using it, like the meme implies, look at the iPen, etc etc.
-
@jeffalyanak top notch, top percentile? In what sense? They control the hardware and software so they have less problems most of the time, but nothing they make or do is anything to write home about.

Curly brace new line, every time. Way easier to read and match em up. I'd take having to scroll one extra line for more readable code any day.

Violin, and I'm super ok at it.

I web dev, game dev and desktop software dev. The latter is my favorite by far.

@rusty-hacker everything included it was a bit under 3k.

@sam9669 cost vs performance just wasn't there for me. I'd rather just leap over the ti for the next release.

The worst is the UI guy who critiques everything... Can you make it a little more round? Ok now the text, it's white, can we do a blue hue off white? Ya, we call him Adolf Interface.

Also ask what the "gotchas" were. God I hate that word.

You can do just as much with the right GUI, often with a more rich display of information. The "look at me cli" guys are the meat head "how much you bench bro" jocks of devs.

@bizzarist I was just under the impression discriminating based on religion wasn't allowed. Kinda along the same vein of can't discriminate based on age/gender/race etc.

Gaming, and a number of handy applications that only run on Mac or Windows. But if Windows games ran well on Linux, I'd never look back.

@cpp0xc0ffeeee outer join, he'll take whatever he can get.

@apisarenco look in something like Angular for example, you check for null/undefined by calling the variable as a Boolean, it's very common convention.
I get what you're saying but it's a well established convention and practice. -
@Letmecode did you honestly think an article about workplace dominance was serious?
-
@apisarenco this is code to check if his primary contract is defined, yes. That is the convention. The you could throw a != undefined, but that's not even close to needed. As for asking questions, this is in a method called hasPrimaryContract? In the model which is giving you the ability to ask that question. Given the syntax and method name, functionality is very clear.
Just like .contacts should be a collection of contacts and if you used it in an if statement it would tell you if there were any or if it was an empty/undefined collection. That's how values behave when treated like a Boolean. Having a Boolean stored for all your record values to see if they've been set isn't feasible, you have to be able to make these determinations. -
@nblackburn I agree, and I don't mind usually, it's just when they constantly bring it up.
-
@Prometheus I don't have stats on that but I'd think so. They've moved to a very multi threaded approach that really increases speed in the 2.5 update.
-
@Prometheus actually it is faster than source tree and cli after a recent update
-
I'd argue if you haven't, or haven't at least wanted to, then you don't have the right mindset/attitude to be a great developer.

If it's anything like Flash it's because it's hateful and poison.
