Welp, got the weekend off and since computer doesn't work anymore, me has no entertainment.
Me is sad. 😞
Me is in a financial clasp.
If the phone gives in too (which, let's be honest, it's nearing it's natural death time) I'm majorly fucked. Let's hope it doesn't give in for a few more months at least. (until I finish thesis, at the very least)
... I think I'm gonna spend this weekend just being sad. 😞 And PMS, ofc. 😐 🔻26 -
Becoming a dev is hard, what was the thing that motivated you the most in your journey?
Currently coding as a hobby, but hoping to turn this passion into a full time job someday.
Also, why is devRant so obsessed with hentai?17 -
Some people refactor because feature updates need to be optimized throughout the code base.
I refactor because I am terrible at planning.3 -
!rant Finally arrived.
And just in time for my birthday tomorrow. Thanks dfox and trogus for this amazing community. And for the swag! 🎉😀6 -
So what would you class yourselves as:-
A) Developer
B) Software Developer
C) Software Engineer
D) Programmer
I go with with Software Engineer. This for me sounds complete for what I do. What do you guys think and why?40 -
5 months ago I've decided to back to the programming after 8 years of Civil Engineer careere. Today I'm working at amazing tech startup (BaaS) and every day is an awesome experience, I think that it was one of the best decisions in my life.4

@dfox just listened to episode 1 of podcast. It was great, so good to listen to passionate people like DHH.
Suggestion for new guest: Samy Kamkar1 -
@dfox maybe it's a good idea to make devRant available for splitscreen on phones :D
I think it's amazing to listen to my girlfriends ranting on whatsapp and scrolling through devRant at the same time! (double ranting)7 -
I love how united this community is.
Everyone cares about everyone.
Everyone understands everyone's troubles.
"Run Away" seems to be the most popular and helpful advice anyone and everyone gives. 😆1 -
devRant, the only positive and supportive online community for programmers.
until you mention an OS.
then all bets are off.16 -
Coworker: Can you create program for me?
Me: What this "program" going to do?
Coworker: Hack bank network and send me money. Can you make it for Android?

Spend half an hour finding music to listen to while I code; Pause it after 30 seconds to concentrate on refactoring. Stays paused for rest of day.
Really getting the most out of those expensive new headphones.35
