Reminds me of the Joomla logo a bit.

@Nanos there shouldn’t be a 13th floor. Almost all buildings go 11-12-14 for floor levels. At least in North America.
-
One of the guys in our company likes to keep the original stickers from the factory on. Hell he will even leave some of the protective film on parts of it as long as possible. I guess to him it still feels "new" that way. Drives me bat shit crazy though.
-
I've seen one. Two actually. When I was camping a large group of us all saw some very fast, very strange colored lights in the sky. They moved around in fast, jerky movements, at sharp angles, and the colors changed at times. We didn't hear any noise from them and they were visible for maybe 7-8 minutes.
This was over 40 years ago. So they certainly weren't drones. Never seen anything like them since, or found any logical explanation for them. Truly UFO's by definition. I do wonder about what they really were from time to time. -
Anyone considering JIRA or Confluence, do you know that if you are doing open source projects, you can use them FREE under Atlassian's community license program? You have to use the self hosted server versions but it's a great program. Has saved our company tons of money over the last several years.
-
@Wack Sorry, no, not sure of their pricing.

My office.

JIRA & Confluence for us.
There's a new PM tool out being described as JIRA- like but easier, Trello-like but cooler. https://atlaz.io
It would be a big upheaval for us to move off of JIRA, but if you are starting out, take a look at it. -
Or lets you know if you see a typo or the reply is very short, it's probably because they were using a tiny keyboard. Not because they're an idiot or in a bad mood.
Commented from my iPhone ;) -

@rewert Ah, yes. The helpful PanicMonster. If you haven't seen this TED talk about procrastination you'll crack up when you realize how accurate it is. https://m.youtube.com/watch/...

@programmingTrtl If you want to do pro bono work or help a nonprofit, go for it. Do it free then. But if you are going to be paid, have enough confidence in yourself to charge a reasonable price.
-
@programmingTrtl Well then to be blunt, you're an idiot for building a site that cheap. Maybe your work is so bad that it's only worth $20 (or maybe YOU should be paying the client to accept it?). But assuming your work is halfway decent, that's a ridiculous price that does not value your time or skill at all. You're insulting & belittling yourself by selling that cheap. Why??
And yeah, I realize you're young, but if you know how to build a decent site, you should be paid a fair price. Not let yourself be taken advantage of because you're under 18. -
@programmingTrtl I really hope you're kidding.

You can get B12 sublingual tablets. They really do help, my blood tests came back much better after just 6 weeks on them.
And sunlight. Developers are an indoor species but getting about 15 minutes of direct sunlight a day will help immensely. Go for a walk once a day outside and you gain not only vitamin D but also a bit of exercise and chance to de-stress and think creatively. -
LastPass Enterprise, with 2 FA of course. LastPass has a notes feature where you can store other secure data besides logins, like banking info. And you can require that your account pw be entered again to read the notes area, just in case you left your account open and someone else is using your computer.

@azuredivay Nope. The error I get is an Azure error saying the account isn't "in the tenant". MS support failed to find anyway to get my perfectly valid Office 365 to show up. Have a Windows Outlook calendar stuffed full of events but when I login to Office 365 nothing is there. Was told I would have to change how I use our private domain email and flow through Outlook.com for the 3rd party connection to work.
Now maybe that's not true, but either way O365 support was useless to solve the problem. -
WTF. This would not even be a big deal to anyone using a password manager / vault. All of our passwords are at least 24 characters, completely random, and unique for every single employee login on every client site. Any passwords you can remember or use in more than one site are by their nature insecure.

We bought the real ones from Antsy. Very well made, but smaller than I thought they would be. Wish they were like 50% bigger.
I use mine to keep focused while attending webinar training. -
"Shouldn't take long if you know what you are doing."
Yeah, right. If you understood it well enough to make that comment accurately, you'd be doing it yourself. -
@liammartens You can't go back and fix this one, but next time if you put in a clear statement about what warranty (if any) is included and for how long, the client won't be shocked when asked to pay 2 months after go live. Plus it puts burden on them to uncover any bugs quickly, before the warranty runs out. It works well for us, saves a lot of grief.
-
I've seen this 100 times, still always funny. So true.
-
Do you have a bug fix warranty period in your contract? We give 30 days and after that, clients understand they have to pay.

Most people will accept a "from my mobile" notated signature to mean "sorry if this seems a bit short, is missing full details or has typos, but I just typed it out one fingered while sitting at a stoplight so please gimme a break"
It used to be perceived as conceited & show off-y way back when, but very few people take it that way anymore.
Literally sent from my iPhone.

One of our former employees just got hired by them last month, same role. He said they seemed to value showing leadership, being self motivated to learn new things, his achievement of AWS certification, and knowing some Regex and Python.
He has no college degree and had worked only 6 yrs in tech at our very small company, nothing of any significant platform size. Yet he got in, so they aren't necessarily looking for experience in large scale systems.
Good luck! -
Or use something like PandaDoc. Clients can't edit it, only mark fields assigned to them and sign online.
-
It is annoying. Have the same problem, I just route anything from FA to a special folder.
-
I use Date & multiple time zones myself. Surely there's a way to get it back there?
-
An experienced PM will take that 18 month Developer optimistic baby estimate it and double it.
