I want to marry C#
Seriously, I've never found any other programming language I enjoy the hell out of using quite like C#. If I could, I'd write my game engine in C# instead of C++23 -
Recently I wondered why so many people complained about Windows 10. I had no issues, no crashes, and no bluescreens. Everything was fine.
Then the "anniversary update" installed. After days of restoring partitions, reinstalling, boot repairs and blue screens I realized Windows 10 is now incompatible with my PC.
Well, good thing MS extended support for Windows 7... -
My friend build a website on Ruby on Rails for his semester end project. He used Lorem ipsom to represent text.
Our professor thought he used some template and gave him 0.7 -

So...Just got moved from salaried to hourly for an already extremely overworked, underpaid position. Lost our flexible hours and our platform is moving to drop and drag...Watch them say no overtime now. Beyond pissed!😡1

Tired of recruiters sending copy pasted job descriptions on linkedin. Asked them in my summary to use some specified word if they actually read my profile1

When you're deep in thought about a complex problem with your headphones in, and someone comes and stands right in front of you, stares at you and loudly says, "You look like your concentrating really hard!" Causing your train of thought to go "POOF".1

A young guy I work with burst into tears today, I had no idea what happened so I tried to comfort him and ask what was up.
It appears his main client had gone nuts with him because they wanted him to make an internet toolbar (think Ask.com) and he politely informed them toolbars doesn't really exist anymore and it wouldn't work on things like modern browsers or mobile devices.
Being given a polite but honest opinion was obviously something the client wasn't used to and knowing the guy was a young and fairly inexperienced, they started throwing very personal insults and asking him exactly what he knows about things (a lot more than them).
So being the big, bold, handsome senior developer I am, I immediately phoned the client back and told them to either come speak to me face-to-face and apologise to him in person or we'd terminate there contract with immediate effect. They're coming down tomorrow...
So part my rant, part a rant on behalf of a young developer who did nothing wrong and was treated like shit, I think we've all been there.
We'll see how this goes! Who the hell wants a toolbar anyway?!401 -
One thing I learnt after over two years of working as a programmer is that sometimes making your code DRY is less important than making your code readable, ESPECIALLY if you're working on a shared codebase. All those abstractions and metaprogramming may look good in your eyes, but might cause your teammates their coding time because they need to parse your mini-framework. So code wisely and choose the best approach that works FOR YOUR TEAM.7

What they say:
Call from recruiter, “Hi Scott just seen your profile on LinkedIn and think you will be a really good match for a role I’m recruiting for”
what it actually means:
“you have come up in my keyword search and I'm blindly calling you, I haven’t really read your profile”2
