8 year old girl meets a classic typewriter at Norsk Vegmuseum.
"Mom! Mom! Look! It prints immediately!"2 -
I use Windows at home. Linux at work.
The last couple of days I was "forced" to work in Windows due to the need of Microsoft Word for documentation.
I just noticed today, that when I rebooted and entered Gnome shell again, it felt like coming home.

A team at school spent 3-4months on an eStore web app, for selling items. The title was "Securing your eStore".
When they were done with their presentation, the examinator asked: "But... You haven't said a thing about the security part."
"Oh, sure we did, as we showed you, we added validation on the email address and credit card text fields etc. If you press the Pay button here, you will get an alert()-dialog telling you which fields are invalid..."2 -
I should check out the latest videos at egghead.io, I should convert to Angular 2, I should start using es2016, I should learn c, I should continue on the cryptopals challenges, I should fully understand floats, I should learn how java works under the hood, I should learn the details of how the drammer exploit were done, I should make a dinner planner, I should continue the Golang tutorial, I should check out the game of my colleague's game attempt, I should engage in an open source project...
Playing cs:go with a nagging bad conscience... Again! -
Phoney call from MS:
- We at Microsoft have detected an issue with your PC.
- Oh, I only have a Mac.
- But that is fine, I will transfer you to the Mac department...12 -
Repeating story, here, isnt it? A dev dislikes a PM, a QA, a Boss. They don't understand, or have unrealistic expectations or say something "stupid"...
But it requires guts to work with other people, cause often the facts we devs have to tell isn't popular. But to lower unrealistic expectations with the bosses, isn't that part of being pro?
Wish *I* had guts... -
goto
Found it lying around. Googled it, and it seems people avoid it, so I started using it all over the place(s). goto b
a:
no other places to goto exit
b:
Yes, it does require some thought to avoid confusion, and some pull requests get declined, but... Helps me alot when I have goto a

The moment I dared ask a colleague about unit testing, and instead of giving me a book or a look, he stashed his work, pulled over a second chair and we coded some, for an hour.3

Debate with fellow student:
Should the square within a PowerPoint slide (dedicated for a second projector video stream) be black or white?
"Of course it has to be white, otherwise we won't see the video stream!" -
Always thought a "scrolling distance"-counter would be neat on Facebook, so that people can realize how much scrolling they do. Not sure if I want that on devRant, though... 8)5

It's such a pleasure to suddenly notice that oh... devRant's been updated. Invisible transition. 2-person devs are doing great. @dfox

Devs: We've spent some time estimating the stories, and found that we will finish a month too late. Which stories should be removed?
PM: None
Devs: Which are less important?
PM: All are vital. (read: Work harder)1 -
My 7yo used the guest account on my galaxy tab s2 to get youtube access and search for "pistol". I cought him by the sounds of it... I confiscated it, and told him of the danger, but ++'d him for the " hack"... Guess I should be embarrassed by leaving the guest account available. :S1

Should be a sticky post: https://www.devrant.io/rants/93206
Should at least be bumped monthly, for new ranters...
Click devRant to refresh, no more scroll to top, as @pelonchasva pointed out.1
