Awesome! Our previous lead engineer left for another company a little while ago and I have basically taken over his responsibilities and got a pay increase.
I feel like there is still a lot to learn, but I guess to be abruptly forced out of your comfort zone is great way to learn tons of new skills - technical and non-technical. Very enjoyable so far, although we do unfortunately have far too much in the pipeline at the moment (not helped by having one less guy on the team) which is resulting in many late nights. But thats dev I guess 🤷♂️ -
Most verbose names ever. Unnecessarily so. 🧐

JavaScript: holding the universe together with chewing gum every day of the week.

Interesting thread because I'm currently deciding between KDE vs Mate for Ubuntu. I've used both DEs in the past (different distros) and enjoy both, so I guess it comes down to which has more supporting software. Thoughts?
-
Another fun fact: github has pretty neat keyboard shortcuts, and so does Slack.
I'm a Unity dev and I shudder at the thought of not using a mouse in the editor. On the coding side though, shortcuts definitely streamline things. -
Still beats the hell out of Xcode 😏

@Buggz Exactly that. Length is far more important that complexity. But try telling that to all of the services out there that stick to their archaic beliefs 🙄
Because it's just inhuman to keep changing your password, I try to pick a strong base and then increment it with numbers. Maybe it's not the most secure, but it works really well at least for non-sensitive services. -
1) Initial commit.
2) Committing missed files. See previous commit. -
That's a Tuesday.

@arraysstartat1 Nope, not quite. It seems like a content and multiplayer update, along with improved visuals and 3rd person camera (which looks pretty sick).
-
@lxmcf Haha. And grind you could. I got aboard the hype train during prerelease, only to find that it was basically an awkward walking sim with resource mining. However lackluster it was back then though, it was still thoroughly relaxing to explore the strange and wonderful worlds. And it looks like it has come quite some way since then!

@oudalally Very true. My dad for instance - uses a computer daily for years, and still can't figure out how to adjust volume when too loud.
I guess it's dangerous to throw the average user into a new desktop layout. I've got a hunch that the devRant community may be a tad more ahead than the status quo. 😂
I honestly wasn't a major fan of the fullscreen metro start menu of 8.1. However, many people of course did love it, so why didn't Microsoft just include a flag in Settings? Give the people who are comfortable with change the option. Just a thought. -
@oudalally That is very true. It's still relatively early days with their whole new "metro" look (or whatever they call it nowadays), and that seems like the way forward. I just hate having Control Pannel vs Settings, and the mash up of classics dialogs vs the new stylish ones.
I guess these things take time. Operating system overhaul can't be an easy task! -
What have you done, you ask? You've just returned to the glory days. 😎 On a serious note I still prefer Windows 7 to the inconsistent bag of potatoes that is Windows 10.

// Loops through array.
That fullstop is sorely needed. 🤓 -
Generally I play DiRT Rally or Assetto Corsa. Not so much relaxing... more like cake-braining.
No Man's Sky or Fallout is a nice feet kicker-upper once in a while, when you need to get lost in alternate reality for a few hours. -
Possibly a nicer way of doing that would be to make 'Lifetime' a property or method, such that Lifetime is equal to MAX_AGE - AGE.
Of course, this means travelling into the future in order to establish the value of MAX_AGE before compilation, which in itself could be a logistical nightmare.
Happy birthday! 🎂 -
Apple is so marketing focused it's sickening. They seem to constantly regress, but continuously shove the "fact" that they are best platform around down everyone throats.
I have used Windows from day one and dabbled with Linux on and off. My work computer however is a recent model Mac and having never used one before a few years ago I have to say that macOS it is a buggy pile of systems tied together with chewing gum. -
Man, I love that game. I really want to revisit it. I've been thinking about maybe getting involved in the Beyond Skyrim mod project as those guys are doing some amazing work.
Oh, and you should round off your collection with the "Skyrim: Very Special Edition" on Alexa 😂 -
Always a menace, those While E. coyotes. 😏
-
@starrynights89 I thoroughly enjoyed Manjaro, but change is nice. ☺️
@JoshBent Antergos is definitely an option! Also, that grub theme... 👌 -
@zlice Exactly what I'm anticipating 😂
