monr0e12526yI have an XP machine that I've kept purely for the sake of Pinball. Sure, you can download it, but its so much better on XP.
-
rasmus1026y@error503 exactly, there will never be an OS like XP again. And I will say that Win7 is one good too
-
0bl1v1on486yWhat have you done, you ask? You've just returned to the glory days. 😎 On a serious note I still prefer Windows 7 to the inconsistent bag of potatoes that is Windows 10.
-
monr0e12526y@electrineer the daft thing is, my machine at home doesn't have vt-x. It supposedly should, but eh. Besides, its just not the same.

I still use Windows XP as the operating system of some of my computers. It's fast, and I use it at work, and having to switch between operating systems isn't too terribly enjoyable.
-
0bl1v1on486y@oudalally That is very true. It's still relatively early days with their whole new "metro" look (or whatever they call it nowadays), and that seems like the way forward. I just hate having Control Pannel vs Settings, and the mash up of classics dialogs vs the new stylish ones.
I guess these things take time. Operating system overhaul can't be an easy task! -
0bl1v1on486y@oudalally Very true. My dad for instance - uses a computer daily for years, and still can't figure out how to adjust volume when too loud.
I guess it's dangerous to throw the average user into a new desktop layout. I've got a hunch that the devRant community may be a tad more ahead than the status quo. 😂
I honestly wasn't a major fan of the fullscreen metro start menu of 8.1. However, many people of course did love it, so why didn't Microsoft just include a flag in Settings? Give the people who are comfortable with change the option. Just a thought. -
@0bl1v1on Get him speakers with a volume knob. Or a keyboard with dedicated keys for volume.
Regarding the metro start menu, that's exactly what they eventually did.
