				To be fair, more people are going to know what a hash sign is than a sharp symbol. And it is usually typed with a hash rather than a sharp.
-

				@projektaquarius Bt does anyone call C-sharp C-hash?
 Can person who teaches Engineering allowed to do that ? lel
-

				@neelgeek you would be surprised. I mean, maybe she never used it or heard it said. Stranger things have happened.
-

				@projektaquarius ya maybe.
 Bt you don't expect a reply from a teacher who is teaching you the subject of object-oriented programming maybe :P
-

				@neelgeek look at it this way: she could be trying to teach you OOP in C++. That would be a humongous pain in the ass.
-

				@omgashnames well the original concept was that it was supposed to be more C-like than C++. So rather than C+1 it was supposed to be C+0.5. At least that is what Wikipedia says.

 Also, C++++ would look and sound dumb.
-

				@bahua
 Except that's how it's supposed to be pronounced... From Wikipedia "SQL (/ˌɛs.kjuːˈɛl/ ESS-kew-EL or /ˈsiːkwəl/ SEE-kwəl . . . )"
-

				 bahua124728y@RiderExMachina bahua124728y@RiderExMachina

 It is a generally accepted pronunciation, but there is a rift between the two pronunciations, and it generally falls between Microsoft people and not.
-

				But the # is an octothorpe.

 I've been calling the language Coctothorpe all these years.
-

				@projektaquarius which is why they should call it C4+ which would be da bomb. Or C(+*4) spelled C plutifour.

 ... I drank too much today... I am dizzy...
-

				@cyberlord64 I am jealous, but also a music geek so I like the C sharp but am moderately irritated that they write it C#, but the sharp symbol doesn't appear on my phone so I must suffer in silence.

				 BartBB6848yYou should lose hope in -your- college. Not colleges entirely. BartBB6848yYou should lose hope in -your- college. Not colleges entirely.

 In my country such a thing would never happen. Every professor is someone who decided to quit the industry and teach after having quite a few years of experience.

				At least she didn’t say fucking “hashtag”...

 You have no idea how many times users have come to me “oh it’s ID hashtag-123456” fuck all the way off!

 Pound, hash, fine... hashtag... a hashtag is the combined hash character and the tag. Fucking makes me feel old.

 C-Hashtag... No.

 Also yeah, since pretty much every tutorial and book will say “C# (c-sharp)” at least once, you know the teacher doesn’t know much of the language.

 I bet she’s one of those jaaaava devs.

 Or phu-pee developers.

 You should tell her you have experience with asp (like clasp) muhvuc.

In my second year,
I told my teacher I can code in in C#(c-sharp).
She replied : C-sharp ? Oh you mean C-hash !
*that day I lost hope in college*
