I was thinking they would do certain actions to mimic real users, but @localpost's explanation sounds more likely.

The rant didn't mention .t3d or any other obvious keyword though.

I don't think it's necessarily a keyword but someone might manually trigger which post gets the upvotes.

Or do the thing manually. It doesn't look like it's necessarily even scripted.
