The biggest face palm moment in my life..

A girl in my class came up with an app idea. She wanted to make an app using which we can transfer our battery charge using Bluetooth.  We initially thought it was a joke, then she went out to defend herself saying "if we can transfer files why not charge? If you're in an emergency and your battery almost drains out, wouldn't you feel nice if your friend could quickly transfer you 30% charge?"

Liked it, then give me a ++ via Bluetooth...

    it would be nice but even if it were possible wouldn't transferring raw electricity though air be seriously dangerous?

    Wireless magnetic induction charging. Actually wouldn't be a bad idea to trade some power phone to phone this way.

    @nitaj96a the thing I noticed about people while growing up is that, if you're not yet a very successful person, and you try to suggest ideas outside the norms, you are considered 'idealistic'. Visionary is reserved only when you manage to make it big. They will suddenly shift on calling you 'visionary'

    Get her into engineering to implement the hardware, then offer to write the front end for a stake if she graduates.

    If the phone has usb OTG, a cable could potentially charge another phone, no?

    Why Bluetooth tho… does she not know you transfer files over cellular and wifi too?

    Transferring power via USB cable (from phone to phone) would be cool enough for me.

    There actually is SOMETHING I saw from a tech blog that charges wirelessly from a stand-alone device to other devices with the USB receiver. I'll have to look for it again.

    Don't think an app would be the appropriate way to handle that but I suppose it is feasible to an extent

    They have gadgets that convert solar power into energy for charging phones....I don't think taking energy from another phone would be that further of a stretch, do you?
