L33tCh4108y@JohanO haha, it's a slippery slope though... The number of people that call me their "computer guy" now... FML

yepster1548yIt was actually crazy back in uni. I got known as the good programer in my computer science class and people constantly asked me for help. It got to a point where I was spending significantly more time helping others than working myself.
Worst thing is when I started refusing to help people because I was working they got angry at me and called me selfish.
Some people are just users. -
Why do people assume someone who is a dev is also good with excel?
I am a dev and I have no excel skills and just want people to stop asking me questions about it! -
akska1998y@bettlebubble364 what I have come to see is that whatever shitty work you are doing, if you are able to search efficiently, you will be able to resolve things..At my current work.. we are most of the time reading debug logs and making out that ok, this maintenance is missing which is causing the code to bomb, that guy has not handled the null values properly..so we got runtime error...etc..etc.. what I have learnt so far is how to search for error in various kind of places..database back end or weblogic front-end..
TL DR; Its pathetic..I want to quit my job.
Today I was working in a university studyspace. Some girl noticed my dark theme IDE, running some tests and such and assumed that I'm a computer guru. She then asked me if I could help her with MS Excel or MS Word. To which I answered "sorry, no". She might've just been trying to start something with me, but that was a deal breaker hahaha (seriously tho, if I were in a better mood I would have helped her)
