VR sets are not using CRT as far as I know...

CRTs were shooting electrons out at nearly the speed of light. Imagine a long exposure of this when it's hitting your soft jelly eyes.

    LCDs don't work like this.

@orijin I doubt most moms were thinking about electrons when they told their kids not to sit close to the TV :P

@orijin so.. At what speed do you think other photons hit your eyes?

@Charmgoggles photons have 0 resting mass, unlike a speeding electron, they bounce off and loose energy untill they come to a full stop.

@NathanDoesDev i thought moms are worried for the most unthinkable things :-)

Its not all about CRT, you know. Different researches claim that the fact your eyes get used to looking at a specific distance makes it harder for it to adapt to other distances. Having a screen right at your eye is not good for long periods of time. @kamen @orijin

@BartBB A computer/phone screen is not very different - it's only better because you can easily look away from it.

I never said they were different. But they actually are, the closer it is to your eyes, the worse. Your eye muscles get used to using a certain amount of strength, and then have a hard time adapting to a different distance, usually longer distances. @kamen

@BartBB I'm suffering from near sightedness.
