    LOL @wowotek @Mizz141 each HDD is 1tb each SSD is 500gb. 24tb total storage array size minus formatting overhead...

    They're a beaut to configure to. It's nice to know when you're paying that many thousands of dollars they actually care about the sysadmin

    Cool!! Out of curiosity, which filesystem are you using on them? And how many nodes is this distributed across? Maybe RAID of some kind?

    @Condor Nimble Storage uses a file system called CASL - Cache Accelerated Sequential Layout. It's very cool and crazy fast! We are in the middle of transitioning so nothing important is on this yet.

    @ThaMunsta hmm, never heard of it. Apparently it uses variable block size which is a bit of a red flag for me at least, because of the performance overhead (there are compression algorithms that do this as well, with such results). Any benchmarks from it, using dd from /dev/zero (or equivalent) to a file or something like that?
