As already somewhere else mentioned, even a 200,-/month paying user means loss for chatgpt. So theur business is not a little bit non-sustainable.

How will this play out? Bevause if that's true, they could never ask the price it needs and still have users.

Anthropic will be profitable by end of 2028, but that's not weird if I see so many people saying the have cloud max. But still, it has a way to go.

There are companies that operate like that for 20+ years. A nicely positioned marketing campaign can make 100x the money you would produce by actually selling shit (quote from the director of Inditex that I overheard).

@blindXfish sure, but can they do that too with such high expenses? I just watched docu about temu and wish, also sick financial scenario's.

    The greater fool hypothesis.

Normally the strategy is to make people dependent on their service and crank up the prices later, but with chatgpt it probably won’t work because people would simply switch to alternatives, of which there are plenty.
Unless all of the providers conspire together to crank up prices in equal amounts.

@Lensflare that's my point. I do not see a good future for them. They hope the government will bail them out like they do banks. They're not even motivated to be profitable. So they'll do nothing and just continue this way?

@Lensflare yeah, but they have to crank them up so much based on info above that it's not really realistic.

ai companies go bankrupt en-masse and the space is dominated by the myriad lobotomized distillations of their now dead abominations running on cursed ex-mining racks on life support with hosting payed for in hourly redditor blood sacrifice as an alternative to water cooling.

there is a satirical crossbreed of lovecraft and cyperpunk somewhere in there i think.

anyway training is kind of a prohibitively expensive bottleneck, maybe we should've figured that one out first. backup the shitty results you got cuz you aint getting many more out in this fucking economy. i remember back in forever ago there was this talk among techy fuckbois, that big leaps in hardware that would make running massive neural nets cheap, viable, sus tain(t)able, all that snake-oil peddling clown jizz was right around the corner. well who's laughing now josh, you're asscrack deep in the red.

tl;dr it's collapsing on itself, the saviour isn't second coming to rescue your gooning machines. god bless.

IA is bullshit, economically speaking. Brain can do what IA does without drinking an entire lake.

@Liebranca they're called capitalist. Before AI they were doing crypto, and then the metaverse. And before that they were doing no-code or drop-shipping.

    They're leeches
