But for me it will be image backup, game server running, free linux iso downloading, "home video"/iso streaming and basic hosting

I run jetbrains server. Allows me to offload heavy development work somewhere else and I can switch from desktop to laptop without losing state. I can also access it remotely with cloudlfare tunnels

Multiple development docker containers too

Heavy local network file storage. Internet without starlink is really expensive here. Every byte counts

Various utilities [pwpush, owncloud, cctv, etc], vpn server, home wifi router, plex server, multimedia hub, dropbox for temp files, firewall, pihole/dns server, meshcentral server, etc.

While currently having some issues with provider because I scanned some network ports trough it.. I like dedicated for 37,- per month for the fact it's not in your house and that compliments stability. My server was up for almost 200 days. Never had that on a home server.

Sharing out large files to friends and colleagues without having to use google drive or onedrive.
