kromsten63dGuess a bit too harsh on game devs. I love them otherwise though. Planning on becoming one of them soon
-
Don't know where your experience w/ game devs comes from, but mine is actually the opposite - people who love to learn && _need_ to keep on learning to stay on top of the newest tech, requirements, && whatnot. That's the position for the majority. I'm sure there are examples of lazy asses, though, but that's in every field.
-
wait wait wait I'm not so convinced bill gates _isnt_ trying to kill us with vaccines and 5g
-
@Sure, I'll rephrase the rant for better clarity. Here's a cleaned-up version:
"I work on decentralized applications and I'm tired of other engineers lacking critical thinking. Every discussion about NFTs devolves into conspiracy theories, like 'Bill Gates is implanting nano-chips via vaccines controlled by 5G.' You'd expect engineers to dig deeper, but many are just as obscurantist.
It's hypocritical to call blockchains scams while ignoring shady SaaS companies. Why not label REST APIs as scams too? Blockchain uses RPC, and websites use HTTP/sockets—let's not dismiss all protocols.
Game devs often seem the most resistant, either too lazy to learn or afraid of change. Even in crypto talks, agreement on decentralization breaks when applying it to apps or secure networks.
It's frustrating, especially with grifters and gamblers in the space, echoing traditional finance's dismissal of Bi -
AAh, let someone steal your wallet then complain about having no way to get your cash back ;P
-
@jestdotty my logic is telling me that this is the typical kind of conspiracy theory that you would believe in :]
Now that I’m here, do you need me to use logic on something else? -
afaIk172dTo me the only part that could resemble reality:
The ramping is identical to what folks from TradFi say about Bitcoin: It's all games and not real, not backed by anything, it will be shut down soon. -
kromsten62d@D-4got10-01 To be honest I've only interacted with them exclusively on Reddit. Very biased samle unfortunately.
-
kromsten62d@jestdotty Simply that is a reasonable opinion to have. It only becomes delusional when you say those things are connected.
I've spent many hours trying to explain people that those nanochips would require nano-batteries that have enough charge to receive signals for days.
Big corps would be the first to to adopt those if they existed, so it isn't real. But the asnwer goes like "You can't know for sure, the military has more advanced teach etc" -
@kromsten I don't read reddit, so I can't weigh in on that. But in 10+ years of working in gamedev, I have met only a handful that were close minded in that way.
There is however a possibility that the attitudes of people are different depending on their location. -
@jestdotty in the real world there isn’t always a proof. Funny how conspiracy theorists always demand a prove against their claim 😂.
"Oh yeah? Show me a proof that god does not exist!"
It’s not how it works.
For that case we have our rational mind and the capabilities to reason.
Some of us, at least. -
@Lensflare you jump on trying to win too much instead of being a real person
logic is a tool to figure out reality, not to support the reality you want for one reason or another (like bashing another person... which is pretty gross a motivation I think. points to insecurity which you're not facing) -
@kromsten big corps don't necessarily have access to them
I doubt Bill Gates is allowed secret military tech
in Russia they murder scientists for re-discovering secretly patented technology if they don't stop pursuing it
but similarly, there's a cost to use this tech. once you use it then you have the chance of all your enemies knowing you have it (on the nation state, geopolitical espionage/war plane). so it's best not to use it even if you have it, because then you can keep it hidden for some extraneous circumstances, moments in which it really matters, and people would be less able to react to it
question becomes if the people in charge of these things are this corrupt or stupid to have bothered to use it in this way for this reason
they might very well be evil, but they won't necessarily have access or abilities on their own without cooperation of someone with the tech -
@jestdotty to win what?
I‘m not a real person?
Are you imagining me? 🤔
I‘m bashing a person?
It’s my motivation?
So many claims and assumptions pulled out of your ass just to commit the same misbehavior that you accusing me of. 😔 -
jestdotty641015h@Lensflare here I figured you'd tell me "you just ASSUMED it was a joke" and would admit the butthurt
what's the point of these conversations? jerk off and get over it or something
I work on decentralized applications and I'm tired of other engineers being so dense.
Every time a topic like NFTs is being brought up it' goes almost identical to "Bill Gates is putting nano-chips into people through vaccines and we'll soon be manipulated by 5g signal"
You'd expect other engineers to have critical thinking and getting to the root of things but most of them are same obscurantist as the rest
What else is SCAM, you moron? There has been some shady SaaS companies in the past. Let's declare REST API as scam from now on, shall we?
Blockchain nodes often use RPC and many websites on HTTP and sockets. Let's go all the way and say that all the protocols are cursed from now on
The biggest crybabies are game devs. They are either the most dense, the most lazy to learn staying ignorant. Or.they simply go full cartel on.anything new because they are afraid of changes they won't be able to adapt
Even within the industry there are sometimes groups that act like buffoons. You can have a nice conversation about the importance of decentralization and all that,. agree on every single point when it comes to money and how Bitcoin is #1.
However, when you mention that you can use it for hosting apps reliably, guaranteed consistent API or simply for managing a network of Roblox servers secured by $100K that no-one is going to atack you'll start seeing how they be glitching
The ramping is identical to what folks from TradFi say about Bitcoin: It's all games and not real, not backed by anything, it will be shut down soon. Better put money in bank / rent a server with DB
As if dealing with huge amount of founders who are grifters and the user base who are gamblers didn't make it hard enough
