When I was 8 years old I used to always check my Tamagotchi on the toilet to see how he was doing.

I guess it was the smartphone avant la lettre.

So last night I get this notif on my phone that looks like a map marker. It was like 10 pm. The map program was telling me I had 42 views on a photo. What photo do I have views on? I don't have website tracking or anything hooked to my phone at all. So I look at the photo. It was the photo I submitted when leaving a positive review for a company I used for a service. The map program wanted to notify me at 10 pm at night that 42 people looked at a photo of a review I left. WTF...

Why would any reasonable person care about views on a review they left?

@YourMom The views of that pic must be like facebook's friends - the more you have, the more you are powerful.

Soon, you'll be battling that profile of yours.

Seriously, though - yeah. That's just idiotic, pushing notifs for such insignificant thing.

@D-4got10-01 if it was an advert i posted its one thing. But a review photo to thank a service is just dumb.

@YourMom Yup. Looks like the notifications have been bastardized.

The idea was so that you would get info on the important stuff.

But now _everything_ is important, according to some. Even the number of views...

@D-4got10-01 they just bombard you with everything and then give you the ability to opt out of what you think is not important.
