So I just wrote a full rage on rant, about the tag spam I've been seeing lately on devRant, but I decided not to post it, cause you know... You probably don't want to fight war with more war...
So I will instead, politely ask:
Please, don't tag your posts with future "Weekly Rant's" tags. It's not cool. Really. I think we all agree, every dev hates spam. So why do that? If you want stickers, or a stress ball, just buy some from the store... It's not that expensive, and you're contributing to the community we all love.
Thank you.

This brings up a good question, what came first the developer or the spam?

@brod I kinda wanna say the developer...? But then again... 😓 Idk

I'm honestly not convinced that people did that on purpose. Occasionally people mix up the wk tags and out of 200+ responses there's bound to be a few people that mess it up. Either way, I'm going to start clearing out rants that use the wrong week tag since it seems pretty easy to get right.

it was a combination of the marketeer who held a gun at a developer.

    What's wrong with wk# tags?
  • 1
@KeyWeeUsr they should only be used to describe the weekly rant topic.

@forkbomber Hm, I think I haven't seen them misused, but probably it slipped my sight.

@dfox Yea, I know, and that's okay, I'm not talking about those...
I'm talking about those who tag it with more than one "#wk" (and the post doesn't have anything to do with any of the tags), and with "wk" tags that didn't happened yet...
I've seen one with the current "wk" tag, three tags for the weeks after that, and one that said "#futureproof"...
That's clearly done on purpose (and again, not related to the post whatsoever, nor made as a joke...)

@dfox Maybe a "Mistagged" option in the report menu...?
  • 1
@P3t3r6 agreed, and I try to remove anything like that as soon as I see it. But I can't remember ever seeing like more than two or three cases of that ever. If you have specific examples beyond that feel free to share with me (david@devrant.io) and I'm happy to take action because it's definitely possible we miss some.

Mistagged isn't a bad idea, but I'm really not sure for the amount of times it actually is a problem and the severity when it is it's worth it to have an additional option.

@dfox I agree, I haven't noticed this issue at all. Not sure it's worth the Dev time.

Guess I've been paying too much attention to the tags 😅
