It’s been two months, and my last two “high-priority, drop everything and work on this!” tickets are *still* in code review.

I finished another ticket, “semi-high-priority” this time… whatever that means. It’s been sitting in data security review for a week and a half. I just convinced someone to do a code review on it.

In our virtual standup today, we all have our updates, and the boss replied to all of us with this fancy animated “ty” reaction. I got a πŸ‘πŸ» instead. So minor, but feels very off.

My “company AI hackathon” idea got co-opted by someone else (on the security team), changed into a security-related project instead, and I got put on his hackathon team instead of the other way around.

Kinda feeling unwanted lately.

I'm now officially and literally (probably) going to therapy for a job that treated me like yours does to you

fuck these people, it sounds almost exactly like the way my job has been for the entirety of 2025.

I sincerely hope you land somewhere you are appreciated, I know how this feels. It's hell.

I like how thumbs up universally came to be seen as a passive aggressive fuck you across cultures and countries.

People really are the same everywhere.

Hang in there, seems to be the general feeling in software development nowadays.

I think I am starting to have dreams (or should I say nightmares?) about daily updates on various features and genAI bullshit and I am not sure I like it.

    Update:

Those tickets are still in code review. Yep. High-priority.

The security review for my other “semi-high priority” ticket still is not completed. I bug the guy, and hear nothing but crickets — and challenges from wild managers. Two (three?) weeks after completing the ticket, the code reviewer still hasn’t responded to my inquiries despite bugging him. Today, my manager requested further changes.

The guy that co-opted my hackathon idea is now the team lead on it, and decided to take 3/4ths of the allotted time as FTO — and stuck me with his two release security reviews to boot. The rest of the hackathon members were simply assigned. Such a friendly, self-organized hackathon. All of my picks left; can’t blame them.

My work laptop is back in its rightful place as a stepping stone leading out my office door. I jumped on it more than a few times today. If it breaks… well, I won’t be able to participate in this garbage for at least a week. Drat.(Sadly, it won’t.)

@Root It didn’t break :( I was really hoping. Guess I’m too light? because I absolutely jumped on it like fifteen times, and kicked it probably another fifteen throughout the day. and watered it while watering my plants too (closed, though).

I swear I’m going crazy, and not in the fun way.
