iiii95215dNuclear sites don't really just explode left and right. The most they could do is polluting some territories around with fissile material
-
well, from a strategic point of view - if the nuclear facilities are far enough removed from ones own asset, they are a prime target.
(one of many reasons why fission power ain't that great) -
@iiii the most they could do is actually more along the lines of "cover significant portions of the planet with radioactive material"
-
@iiii actually, that happened before, and without any external bombs. heard of chernobyl?
all you need, even with a modern plant, is _one_ well-placed bomb that does enough damage to the reactor and leaves you with a smouldering puddle of corium and a smoke pile. -
iiii95214d@jestdotty it did not explode just because. it was purposely put in a state to explode by itself.
-
@iiii actually, what chernobyl did was 1) overheat due to operator error and bad design 2) burst in a steam explosion 3) melt down due to lack of cooling 4) scattered radioactive carbon around the area 5) started some fires which were causing that radioactive carbon to burn up into smoke.
you don't even need a bomb for it. you can achieve this by clamping some pipes, based on the reactor type.
you are however quite able to achieve that result with just _one_ well-placed conventional bomb. -
@iiii > but it is impossible to do accidentally
it's not. for that reactor type, only cooling has to fail. and i'm pretty sure most current reactor types have some similar issues.
and in the end, it's just enough for one regular bomb to blow everything up, set everything on fire, and send radioactive smoke in the atmosphere. you don't even need a reactor for it, you'd have a similar effect when bombing a barrel of radioactive waste. -
I mean, getting the stuff to explode is pretty much exactly what the facility was working on. It's not like they were purifying it for fun.
-
@iiii i know how radioactive fallout is working. it's "spread a bunch of radioactive stuff in the atmosphere". all you need for that is some radioactive stuff (check: the fission reactor. ANY fission reactor), and an explosion or similar to spread it (check: the bomb)
the only open question is if the severity is rather on the side of "very very bad", or "catastrophic" -
Also, nuclear recklessness isn't in short supply ever since Russia _besieged a nuclear power plant_, I don't expect any better from the US whose homeland is much further from the site of the attack and is thus much less exposed to the fallout.
-
@iiii you bomb iran. Radiation happens. Some old sovietic nuke get triggered in mongolia. Nukes new york.
The end. -
Grumm19864d@iiii I also think that he thinks that Japan is currently to most radiated country and people are totaly not living in Nagasaki.
These sites were probably facilities to make different stuff, not all had nuclear stuff on site. -
@12bitfloat I studied ergonomics and accident prevention. That's exactly how it works.
-
@tosensei too bad yours did. She was my class mate. I met her 20 years ago in hamburg at the faculty bukkake
-
retoor88443d@antigermanist she had manners not to eat with mouth full. Rare to find girls that just shut up these days while doing such thing. Daddy this, daddy that, very annoying.
Who tf is stupid enough to bomb nuclear facilities. Jeez these izraelians and yanks really are retarded
They could explode and kill us all you goddamn idiot.
rant
are they stupid????
