I once worked somewhere and everyone was shit. Some people were like just low skilled and also not interested in advancing. The other half had no work and they were just fine with it. Normal people leave when there's no work imho. At least, i would. But thank god, I spiced it up by hiring some skilled Ukrainians that worked with me before what also meant i could travel again. Loved it there. My job was a hell, until i hired the Ukrainians. Great to work with. Highly skilled. Not very good with being on time. But I think that the Dutch are a bit nazi in it. Also, half of them did just buy their diploma of university.

Probably because the companies are trying to save money by hiring jr. devs with low skills, getting bonuses for amount of devs hired and then hoping they will turn into some wizards later on.

Hm.. it all has to do with money, I think. In my experience in the industry, whenever I addressed the topic of wanting to continuously learn, business has always been allergic to it and always in favor of hacking shit together and taking shortcuts. This is also done in the hiring process and it's reflected across the whole chain. There is no expertise, only a bunch of noobs selling themselves as experts.

    is it a big enterprise?

enterprise structures are built resilient, so they can still somewhat function even if every single position is filled with the person most unqualified for that position. which, inevitably, will happen sooner or later.

the smaller and less enterprisy a company is, the higher the chance of it collapsing due to "peter principle"-saturation, the sooner it will make room for the next company, not yet filled with incompetence.

the bigger the company, the slower its death.

@tosensei 30 people across 4 countries. There's like, 10 competent people and 5 senior buddy buddy people that try to bully anyone that steps out of line. I've seen a few people forced out. They tried it with me when I joined the company because I complained so I shut up and kept my head down. They've tried it with me again now and it's so utterly hilariously blown up in their face. They got aggressive with me, demanded stuff, thought I was lying about health problems, threatened to fire me. Last week they finally got the info they wanted and nobody has said a word to me since except legal speak acknowledgement of emails. I'm writing an email that includes the phrase "The list you've provided does not match my records. As you now probably know, not implementing agreed reasonable adjustments may constitute disability discrimination under UK law". My little fuck you.
