Familiar is easier. So for most people if they have a choice between two comparable brands they'll choose the one they've heard of before, even if they may not consciously remember it. They may even rationalise their choice to it being of higher quality, because we assign positive traits to people and things we like. Similar to Eg salary correlates with height in men because it makes you more attractive.

@Tounai I don't speak French and live in Quebec where everything has to be French so I actually don't know what any ad is saying and NGL when I first moved here I noticed a tremendous amount of pressure being taken off my psyche when I was outside. I can't understand the billboards!
lately I've been getting French internet ads but before if any snuck through it was always English. God these things are like roaches. -
