Guys, quick question!
Why do people argue wether it’s „gif“ or „jif“ and no one ever thought of calling git „jit“?

    Git is not an acronym

    It's jif with a soft g... Because the creator said so, otherwise I can pronounce all y'all names however I want Steve becomes stevey, Paul becomes pee-ay-you-el etc

    Ahwww 😞 I hoped for creative answers!

    Imagine the confusion that would cause, especially with interns
    jit refers to Just-In-Time compiling.

    Coz jit is reserved for just-in-time compilers

    There's no argument. It should be pronounced "gif" (it sounds better too)

    @RememberMe really?
    You have an intern that hears "gif" and thinks "jit"
    I don't think that's gonna be a massive problem ... Or the worst mistake that intern makes.

    You said guy who created it. "Did you mean the 'guy' or the 'juy'?" - BBT

    Also, Graphics or Jraphics?

    Because they are fucking retards who do not understand the English language, or they just American and have not yet learnt to speak the English language.

    Saying git-genius.
    Saying jif-jenius.

    Considering Linus has included an audio file with the kernel for decades, in which he himself tells you how to pronounce the word, "Linux," I would think his pronunciation of git would be pretty unambiguous.
