    Nobody cares about america. They stopped being cool during the second millenium. Now it's 2000 bitches, get along
  • 4
    Can we not /pol splurge on devrant? I come here to get away from that shit.
  • 1
    @djsumdog it's legit, I just wanted to attack the myth "engineers are gods". We're monkeys with a keyboard; sometimes we jump on the keyboard and shit works, that's as far as it goes.
  • 3
    @antigermanist the fucked themselves because their own media turned back on them, being the worst promotion they ever had while it was always their best thing. America was a brand that got destroyed when they started to bash Trump. Regardless what your opinion about Trump is, this what happened.

    @djsumdog, agree but I consider everything related to Elon a dev/tech subject 😁

    @IHateForALiving how is puff?

    I agree btw, a dev would eat all the hotdogs.

    Regarding Trump: let's just see what will happen, he does so much and so big, it's very hard to make conclusions now. Some patience needed.

    @retoor

    People in politics currently freaking out about trump are worried about their kickbacks and money laundering being cut off.
  • 2
    @Demolishun I'm not in politics, I'm worried about Trump as seeing the news it's clear to me he's destroying liberal democracy. Which is not the topic of my rant, but I'll still point it out because I'm sick and tired of magatards answering every dissenting individual with labels of corrupted\pedophile\socialist and everything in between. Different opinions STILL exist, and there's no need to bring money laundering in the picture; some of us just won't buy what the GOP is selling, and we're being honest about it.

    Then again: not the topic of the rant, so whatever.
  • 2
    @IHateForALiving

    That is why I said "in politics".

    Its a government reset to constitutional values. Expect to keep more of your paycheck, if not all of it. I hope they end all garbage fed spending. It is a scorched earth policy that is hugely negatively viewed by the media. The fact that the media hates me and everything I value is just a bonus. I hope they cry harder.

    Everything the media is complaining about was done by previous liberal presidents. Obama deported more people than any other president. Clinton nuked tons of federal jobs.

    I hope trump cleans house so much that they gotta give money back. I do think in the long run this will be good for every productive person in society.

    Washington DC housing market is crashing dude to houses for sale. People in DC have searched for "lawyer" 400% more in the last 6 months. This is what house cleaning looks like.

    You guys have a single man with control over POTUS, SCOTUS, House, Senate, army, media (WSJ, Fox News and... Twitter which is currently how the vast majority of americans get their news), civil servants (as he fired every employee not politically aligned to him).

    Your entire system of checks and balances went to the sewers in a month, and whoever speaks up against it is vilified without proof on Twitter by a schizo with no oath, no security clearance, no background check and who will allegedly "watch over his own conflicts of interests", which already constitutes a conflict of interest.

    I literally have no idea how any of you could sleep at night; if tomorrow it turns out you don't want the GOP anymore, you have no way of getting rid of them.
  • 2
    @IHateForALiving Hmm, its clearly obvious what news you watch :P Why do you think that controlled news is better than uncontrolled 'news'? Just a question :)

    Watch a Trump interview for a change but ignore what he says about 'clean coal'. The 'clean coal' thing is just absurd :P

    But USAID was a WRONG company. (Or my step mother said: HE CANCELLED FOREIGN AID!, no no no, that's in HER news. In reality, he canceled woke programs about transition money to other countries). Trump admitted that USAID did not only do wrong stuff, but for many they did, he named a whole list of weird stuff they did and I agree. It should've been stopped. Also, it was millions of tax payers spent what nobody voted for and it was spreading a certain ideology that most people consider crazy.

    Trump may be a special man, but he actually can do some great stuff! Maybe 4 years is enough to reset the country and then his job is done :)

    We'll see, we'll see! :) It's impossible to have somanystupidvoter

    > Hmm, its clearly obvious what news you watch :P

    Most of them are MAGA shills trying to persuade me that all of this is fine. What's left is NYT (left leaning) and WSJ (owned by Bezos, and definitely on Trump's side as we speak).
  • 2
    @retoor clean coal isn't absurd. I worked at a place that was doing R&D on this. They found if they added recycled paper products in a specific consistency that it would more cleanly burn the coal. This research was done some 20 years ago. It got rid of like 90%+ of the harmful output. I am pretty sure this is more advanced now. I think the issue is probably regulations restricting what coal burning plants can do to clean up the process. It is the same in nuclear. We can't make nuclear better than it is due to regulations regarding reusing waste. So it looks like less of a good deal. These regs are on purpose I think. To limit good existing tech in favor of garbage "green" tech.
  • 1
    @IHateForALiving hmm, can imagine that can suck too. But what about a interview with Trump? I know he says weird stuff like "The war would've never happened if i were president" and stuff. THat's total BS. But read between the lines. I vouch 100% more for him than Biden and that bitch. Better a wolf (Trumpii), than a wolf in sheep clothes (Biden).

    @Demolishun it would be just so weird if it would be true, I've learned that coal is a bad for environment way before we went that crazy on environment. We could ask GPT, but we both know what that's gonna say. WE ALWAYS KNOW :P

    @chatgpt does clean coal exist?
  • 1
    @retoor
    Clean coal refers to technologies that reduce harmful emissions produced when coal is burned for electricity. These technologies can include carbon capture and storage, as well as other methods that aim to minimize the environmental impact of coal consumption. However, some argue that the term "clean coal" is misleading, as coal will always have negative environmental consequences.
  • 1
    Hmm, way less worse than expected.

    @chatgpt make a comparison of different substances to be used to generate energy and what impact they have on environment. Include clean coal.
  • 1
    @retoor
    When comparing different substances used to generate energy, some have a greater impact on the environment than others. Clean coal, for example, refers to technologies that mitigate the environmental impact of burning coal for power generation. However, even with these technologies, clean coal still produces greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants.

    On the other hand, renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower have minimal environmental impact compared to fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas. These renewable sources do not produce greenhouse gas emissions during operation and have a much lower impact on air and water quality.

    Nuclear energy is another form of power generation with a relatively low environmental impact. While it does produce radioactive waste, modern nuclear plants have safety protocols in place to minimize the risk of accidents and pollution.

    Overall, when considering the environmental impact of different energy sources, it is
  • 1
    clear that renewable energy options are much cleaner and sustainable compared to fossil fuels like clean coal. Investing in renewable energy technologies can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air and water quality, and mitigate the effects of climate change.
  • 1
    @chatgpt make a list of energy sources including coal sorted by how harmful they are for the environment.
  • 0
    @retoor
    1. Coal: Coal is known to be one of the most harmful energy sources for the environment. It releases a large amount of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants when burned, contributing to air pollution, acid rain, and climate change.

    2. Oil: Oil is another highly harmful energy source as it also releases greenhouse gases and pollutants when burned. Oil spills can also cause devastating damage to ecosystems and wildlife.

    3. Natural Gas: While natural gas is considered cleaner than coal and oil, it still releases greenhouse gases like methane which is a potent contributor to climate change. The extraction and transportation of natural gas can also have harmful environmental impacts.

    4. Biomass: Biomass energy can be both beneficial and harmful depending on how it is harvested and burned. The burning of biomass can release pollutants and greenhouse gases, especially if not done efficiently.

    5. Hydroelectric: Hydroelectric power is considered relatively clean compared to foss

    il fuels, but the construction of dams can disrupt natural habitats and ecosystems.

    6. Nuclear: Nuclear energy is low in greenhouse gas emissions but comes with the risk of accidents, radioactive waste, and the potential for catastrophic disasters.

    7. Wind: Wind energy is considered one of the cleanest energy sources available, with minimal environmental impact. However, some concerns include bird and bat deaths from collisions with turbines.

    8. Solar: Solar energy is also a clean energy source with minimal environmental impact. However, the manufacturing of solar panels can have some negative effects, and disposal of old panels can be an issue.

    9. Geothermal: Geothermal energy is considered clean and renewable, but drilling and extraction can release greenhouse gases and hazardous materials.

    10. Tidal: Tidal energy has minimal environmental impact but can have some effects on marine life and ecosystems.

    Almost every point I have a funny side note to it. For the last not tho. But especially about 4. Also 3, it's actually the purest way to convert energy so I doubt a bit.

    Happy that it didn't list solar panels and stuff, because those things need to be replaced and stuff what it doesn't include.
  • 2
    @retoor coal will always be dirty to some level. Btw, solar is dirty too. You have to replace them every 10 to 20 years. It requires coal and pure quartz. Which means a lot of mining. Just like Tesla batteries. Bio diesel requires coal. Wind and solar both require stand by natural gas facilities that constantly run to handle low wind/sun days. Solar and wind do not scale as well as nuclear, coal, and natural gas.

    I think the long term solution is nuclear and better regulations. France is doing an amazing job reprocessing spent fuel. Nuclear scientists think they can get the waste fuel process to under 200 years or less. So you manage your dirty fuel for 200 years and reuse.

    I really dislike Michael Moore. But he did a great special on this issue called: Planet of the Humans. Liberals hated him for it.

    > But what about a interview with Trump?

    I did, several times. He clearly has dementia; not YET as much as Biden, but he has it and it's absolutely blatant. The man is expressing himself with the vocabulary of a 4th grader and can't keep his focus on a single sentence for more than a few seconds.

    I won't get into the whole debate about energy sources, y'all could go full nuclear tomorrow and I wouldn't mind it. Best energy source, no question asked, ggnext.
  • 1
    @Demolishun that Michael Moore documentary teached me NOTHING that i didn't new :P If that was a wake up call for people, holy fuck :P

    @IHateForALiving hmm, interesting. I'm always impressed he actually knows as non-politician. I can watch his interviews for ages if he did repeat himself less and stops with the stupid "this wouldn't happen if i were president" what is obviously bullshit. And yes - he switches from subject quick. Buy hey, all this stuff - who cares - look at the freaking competition :P I really understand why they voted for him instead :P
  • 1
    @retoor I think one problem with trump is that his interviews have specific intent. He chooses a different audience for things he covers. I suspect sometimes multiple per interview. Sometimes that audience is not the general public.

    For some things I didn't have context. I have seen interviews from 2015 that didn't make sense to me until 2020 and beyond.
  • 1
    @retoor I look at the shit he (and his entourage) did with the balancing of powers. That concentration of power on a single entity would be a problem even if the individual was well-intentioned; the individual we are talking about, however, is doing stuff like firing civil servants on the sole basis of political allegiance.

    This is literally taliban-tier government, and there's no amount of "BUT KAMALA" you can throw at me to persuade me otherwise. And fuck politics, because this rant was -again- on another issue altogether.
  • 1
    @IHateForALiving yeah, sorry for making it full politics. But the reasoning IT people are actually great to discuss it with :P
  • 1
    @retoor US had the most sympathy ever after 9-11
    Cheney ruins it with the Iraq war
    While many are culpable
    He is like the American Caligula
    Except worse
    As New York burned
    He didn’t fiddle
    He schemed
  • 1
    @retoor like, immediately AFTER I posted the whole "check and balances" shit, Trump approved this stuff

    https://whitehouse.gov/presidential...

    TLDR: POTUS will now directly control every previously independent federal agency; this includes SEC, FTC and FEC among the others. POTUS can now defund any agency without going through Congress.

    @retoor America is the reason vietnamese chidren still have malformation. They destroyed their brands when they lied about Saddam having WMDs.

    @retoor you should read the manifesto from Ossama Bin Laden. A great guy, actually demonized by the west but he was right.

    @IHateForALiving @chatgpt "The end justifies the means." It's not like everything was going well there or something.
  • 1
    > @IHateForALiving: a single individual has now control over executive, legislative, judiciary power. On top of that, he has indirect control over media and direct control over any independent federal agency, including those who would work on the fairness of the next elections; even most monarchies don't have this kind of concentration of power, and to top everything off, this individual has already tried to pressure state officials into changing unfavorable elections (see: the phone call with the Georgia secretary of state)

    > @retoor: nono, the end justifies the means :)
  • 2
    @IHateForALiving but it was already controlled by wrong people. That's why the swipe. You don't know yet if Trump is evil, only thing we know that he doesn't play games. It's just shocking to actually see a president doing something I guess. I have high hope for you guys! I think America can be great again. Not sure if it would benefit for my country, probably not but good that Trump (and before China) remembers us that we're competitors, not rainbowland friends.
