@RustyCookie Maria is not the seal... it's My's and Max's youngest (human) sister. MaxDB is now owned by SAP, MySQL by Oracle, and MariaDB by an independent foundation.

My's name and the success of MySQL was an important cause for the whole IT world to start prefixing things with My all over the place -- although they interpreted it as the possessive pronoun.
