Engyne5708y@galaxyfinder1 I really want something relayable, and almost all the game studios I worked on use Apple software and MacBooks everywhere.
-
Engyne5708y@azuredivay I can only use Linux for servers. I used diferents distributions for years, and I can't be totally comfortable with them.
-
sudouser6818y@azuredivay thanks for the correction. Don't use it personally, didn't know there was a difference.
-
sudouser6818y@Engyne you pretty much answered your own question. "Almost every game studio you work on use Mac"
Go for it, you won't regret it. But do get the SSD for MacBooks and 16gb ram+ -
If you tap my name and look at my comments you'll find a discussion about Mac vs PC and my experience with using Osx properly for the first time, might help you decide.

drRoss49148yDELL Precision with a good processor, loads of RAM and an SSD. Then don't worry about dual booting when you can just run Linux in a VM (or soon in Windows with the Ubuntu subsystem). Dual booting seems to be something that people promote here, not sure why, especially for developing when you need to switch back and forth at the drop of a hat.
-
drRoss49148y@dontbeevil What you said about Mac drivers on Windows being rubbish... Yeah that's complete bollocks. My aging 2011 Macbook Pro running Windows 7 has been the most stable computer I've ever owned.
-
drRoss49148y@SithLord Ha. Yeah. You're able to watch all those 5K videos that don't even exist on YouTube yeah?!
-
c3ypt1c99058ywhy can't you get a laptop with an Intel processor and buy the legit OSx CD from the apple store or something and just call it a day.. you get your value for money because apple won't rip you off the hardware and you get OSx and stuff....
-
drRoss49148y@c3ypt1c It doesn't work as easily as that due to driver issues. You would need to make a Hackintosh, which the last time I looked was against Apple's T&C's and is no doubt still the case.
-
@drRoss and it takes lot of time unless the hardware is assemebled as per mac pro spec

My laptop is way to old, and I been looking on to a MacBook. I never used OSX, and I develop mainly in Unity with VS, and I also do Web stuff and administrate servers with Windows remote. It's a good idea to switch?
