@FrodoSwaggins "while providing no measurable benefit "
a free online profile to show your past work and education experience... JUST FUCKING SICK YOU MIGHT AS WEL BE ASS RAPED BY JEFF WEINER HIMSELF!!!!1 -
sighemoji127yInteresting, I’ve never read of anyone speaking out against LinkedIn. Will research soon.
-
@FrodoSwaggins But it has a benefit... I currently have a job but every day I get recruiters trying to add me and messaging me with job opportunities. If for some reason my job doesn't work out I know that I will easily be able to get another one.
-
@FrodoSwaggins I am with @leonelmenaia on this one. Perhaps I've been mostly lucky, but I am very selective on the recruitment contacts I do accept, and my overall experience on it has been great so far. In the end, a big part of my work experience and companies I've passed on, were based on LinkedIn.
-
@FrodoSwaggins "well yeah"
Since I've never been ass raped by anyone, let alone a CEO, I can only speak for the having a LinkedIn profile part...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
iDroid1627yI landed my current lead developer position on LinkedIn. I don't use LinkedIn much, but it has always been good when I needed it for job searching.

leanrob36647yIt's a tool like any other. It may be 100% useless in our field but if you really want to improve it (instead of ranting about the downfalls of LinkedIn which there are many) here are some tips:
- get a photo done by a professional.
- make sure the photo is only of your face/ head
- have your face slightly off center and make sure the image is clear.
- Get your image rated on sites like PhotoFeeler
- Make sure to link a personal site and github
- change the order of the parts on the page. Ex. Move skills to the top if you want people to see them
One last big tip is to join as many ”groups” as you can. You cannot message everyone on LinkedIn but if you and another member are in he same group then you will be better able to reach out to them if you need to.
But remember that LinkedIn is a tool like any other. Nothing will ever be better than in-person connections.
PS. Fuck social media in general. It is largely a tire-fire!
Any tips to make a linkedin profile good?
