    Yeah Instagram is innovation.. stfu

    Oh yeah, because Apple has had so many new developments and achievements that advance humanity so much.
    Honestly I wouldn't say Tesla is any better. Maybe somewhat, but I am biased towards Tesla #fanboy.
    Maybe SpaceX - especially if they had a bigger budget.
    I would be really interested in what other people think.

    Also deep and machine learning are quite innovative I think.

    Wait? Did I read marvel??? How?

    I can agree with some of these; I mean, how is spacex innovative?

    the washington post? wtf?

    Selling a useless phone that works like it's 2002 for 1000$, they actually deserve the innovation top award. Made a system to tell apart from normal and idiots.
  • 4
    @Vitz I mean I’m using iOS, so thanks a lot 😅

    @athlon
    It's OK, someone has to, we can't all be normal :)

    @Vitz well I was also enjoying Windows Phones...

    Well, innovation actually means inventing something new AND commercializing it.
    And oh boy, apple knows how to sell

    @irene animoji, facial recognition, 3d touch, what has spacex done?

    @calmyourtities nothing spectacular, just sent some rockets and made them fucking land themselves
  • 5
    You all forgot the best (and in particular most useful) innovation of this century.
  • 2
    NBA....ok, Elon, you're done, pack your shit and let's move to Mars, this planet is pretty much done for.
  • 1
    I would love to know the criteria. 90% of the companies here have done jackshit to innovate, but maybe my concept of innovation is way too high.

    I love apple. But I’ll be the first one to point out their bullshit.

    Apple has completely forgotten that have an operating system and computer product line. Nothing work properly right now.

    Siri is many versions behind the iOS version for example. Can’t even make a timer.

    The iPhone is all Apple has right now. Steve come back. ;(

    @athlon landing a rocket isn't anything new, just something that doesn't happen often. @ArchLinux was right.

    @Jahhein wdym

    @calmyourtities on macOS. Not iOS. Mac didn’t get Siri for 3 years after iOS got Siri.

    @calmyourtities
    They invented a new way of cold pressing large aluminum plates together.

    They created new guidance and Landing system for their stage 1 Rockets.

    They created two new rocket boosters.

    That's just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

    @Jahhein well, you did say ios, but anyways what's one small functionality compared to performance, security, and power efficiency? i can always just google timer

    @jamesharrington interesting

    @calmyourtities

    Crappie autocorrect. My bad.

    Edit: and no security went downhill after El Capitan. Each new macos OS has nothing new added. The last good thing added to macs was APSF. Before that was the metal library for GPU and CPU performance when apps weren't visible.

    My comp crashed twice after the 10.3.3 update patch, And has been playing with her stupid beachball to ever sense.

    @calmyourtities same goes for AR, animated faces, touch force detection, face recognition - that’s nothing fancy. I can show you old devices that had exact same features.

    Of course, NASA and Ruskies also made their own self landing rockets, but these are government projects. Considering that the private company accomplished something that took governments half of the century in 9 years (talking about first success) is REALLY stunning.

    I know people tend to have different needs, but I think it’s something greater than Animoji. Don’t get me wrong - I use iPhone 6S and I love this phone, but when was the last time Apple innovated something. I think the last two were the iPods and the iPhone - that’s more than a decade ago!

    @athlon well, needs don't matter when it comes to innovation, what matters is that a new idea became a technological advancement. animoji is a technology that's an innovation.

    Fake news

    @calmyourtities Well, making the most powerful rockets for cheap, making them reusable and sending a freaking car in space should amount to something.

    Plus they are trying to colonize Mars which should be very easy for others too, you know, by being more innovative.
  • 1
    @ArchLinux I agree completely here. Google contributes a lot to the the open source Community. They even open sourced their Machine Learning engine. They actually tried to build an assembled phone and they are the only ones who are trying to solve death, among other things.

    @creator but spacex didnt make the car
  • 1
    I think Apple is on top position due to their extremely "innovative" marketing department.
  • 0
    @calmyourtities sorry you are a week late.
    Had you been a bit early I'd have sent yiu a Telegu letter.
  • 0
    @athlon and ofc, shit people shut down iPod shuffle
  • 0
    @calmyourtities no, but the company that made that car has the same CEO. And I don’t think Animoji will send people to Mars
  • 0
    If Instagram is innovative, then I'd also add Slack to this list 😆
  • 1
    @athlon it doesn't fucking matter if animoji will take over the human race, it's still innovation.
  • 1
    Is this a top 20 list of companies and the amount of times they use the word innovative?
