@CogInTheWheel when I was starting here I got full workspace and some other dev came by to say hi. He saw I was already working and said "wow they got you a computer on your first day?! Lucky man!" I laughed then because I thought he was joking :P
-
@gitcommit no, it was his first job so he was stressed and they kept telling him that he just have to wait for a little while longer every hour, because they are still preparing his desk. After about 5 hours some guy gave him a book to read so he doesn't have to stare at wall all day.
-
At least they let him go home. Where I work one new guy was in the same situation in his first day and they made him sit in kitchen for whole 8 hour work day waiting for his desk and computer that arrived next morning.
-
at first glance I thought that was a horse in the reflection
-
@Jumpshot44 yeah, he totally didn't know what to say at first;p then he went from trying to change my mind, then being really angry on me, to accepting it and that he understands my decision
-
That exactly describes whats going on in where I work ;p have to hang it in our office
-
@brahn yeah, they are paying us half-normal price for every overtime hour, because they are insisting that overtime payment is extra cash for us and it's an opportunity to earn it so we should be happy.

@ThomasRedstone that's true nothing wrong with using online knowledge in general. I wouldn't mind if he was using it to confirm his diagnose or get a clue. Or even send me to someone else because he's just not sure.
But in that case guy was reading parts of texts from website to me as I should confirm is it that disease or something else maybe. Then even if he's not sure its that, just take this and this pills and come back next month lets see whats going to happen ;p
It was more like copy&paste code from somewhere and push it to production -
@ZaLiTHkA Yes it was provided with full short html and css, visual example of how it display, and event got /* ... */ suggestive comment where person should start, but still some people ignored that and put the div in <center> tag as solution ;p
it was only to check if the candidate know some basic css
its not used anymore in our interviews but I got old copy of it, the question looked like this (texts are in polish) https://imgur.com/MEk7KgX -
Don't know details, only that he got angry at boss and got really nice raise for it

few years back in my time at university in PL I also heard on one lecture that
"Turbo Pascal is the fastest compiler of all, that is why it has been called Turbo"
