And fuck every single AI content creator on LinkedIn. Every. Single. One. Of them.
-
@Oktokolo nothing happened or will happen... It's already a shit show.
-
@electrineer still on probation and manager will be like "I can't allow all of you to leave at the same time and I have to escalate to HR and I'd have allowed it if you'd stay in the country but you're actually leaving the country... " And other nonsense BS. Note to self: next time make the holiday week part of the contract
-
@joewilliams007 basically the servers would crash everytime you run a parallel GPU performance test of them... Without validating the performance test the delivery isn't considered done and all manufacturers have been pointing fingers at each other and bluffing and stalling in the emails asking for more "test" and "evidence" so I said fuck it I'll work on it myself and resolved it in 48 hours
-
@spongessuck that's what I decided for now... No more friendly treatment, you wanna say good morning? Send it on email. Until I decide how far I wanna take it without causing any issues to my boss
-
@spongessuck he said it verbally to my face, if I had it on email it would be either me or him in that building.
-
@devphobe the main one is RHCA, I want to conteinue my career as a consultant. Right now I'm working as a DevOps for a startup, managing k8s cluster and aws resources, so I already have some knowledge on those, why let ite go to waste? :D
-
@Crost the guy simply mentioned that it's a first for him and will take some time to learn... Not the lazy type
-
@Demolishun try harder and you will understand 😂😂
-
@IntrusionCM thanks a lot
-
@IntrusionCM honestly not... With whom do you suggest I talk? Boss? HR?... And how would I approach this? Thanks for your advice
-
@fraktalisman thanks for your input... I kinda agree but what annoys me is the fact that it's like a family, if you need few hours to do some paper work, get something personal done they don't mind that stuff... On the other hand, boss basically doesn't know the difference between DevOps and tech support, I'm not adding much and not learning much, and this is my first job. They kinda care about the employee which I'm told it's rare. And that's really bothering me.
-
@atheist exactly
-
@asgs not yet. Any suggestions?
-
@asgs not yet. Any suggestions are welcome.
-
@darkwind He says "it's just a suggestion to discuss" but I'm pretty sure he's not gonna take it lightly if I refuse.
-
@heyheni man this is awesome.
We don't use slack but I can adapt that for my purpose. Thanks a lot. -
@sbiewald I don't care as long as I make it work, sendmail or anything else. If you have something in mind that's is well documented and easy to use I will be thankful.
-
@atrabilious oh I definitely understand that... Funny enough a senior guy (basically the CTO) left a couple months ago and the manager was in panic mode and going crazy, lot of meetings and trying to reorganize things... And I was like "god you need to read -the Phoenix project- for a starter, will give you an idea"... So basically self managing and prevent the actual manager from setting things on fire. 😁😁
-
@atrabilious that's really helpful. Thanks a lot. But can you "develop" 'managing up'... What does that exactly means? (Sorry English is my 3rd language)
-
@atrabilious it's a coworker.
And my burnout. I just feel tired and, although it is only my 5th month and there is a lot to learn about and enjoy... I find myself doing the minimal tasks to get through the day. -
@happygimp0 it's a vps they have a rescue mode... I'll use that to change GID back to 0
-
@happygimp0 nope... You don't have permission to run su or sudo... root user can't even access it's home (/root)... Permission denied everywhere
-
@alexbrooklyn that doesn't sound as bad... You still have root access to fix it... In my case they modified the group file directly, root is not root anymore, just a user with no permissions
-
@mundo03 my coworker 😂😂
-
@stop @mundo03 the servers are just for testing new things, not connected to prod in any way, nothing important on them. I know it doesn't justify not securing them from the beginning, but that's not the point, what I'm trying to say is that my coworker should have mentioned the new firewall instead of having me waste 4 days trying to figure it out by myself, and I figured the change by chance while checking the vps provider console.
-
@stop they were just test servers... Nothing important was in them
-
Hello comorade
-
@Root fair enough.
The story is CTO is basically "CEO who had over 20 years dealing with devs so he knows what's good and what's not" never wrote a line of code, never accessed a CLI, asked me to do some port forwarding so he can have remote access, the way they used to do it is some tech support with basic knowledge get it done locally... I am 5000 miles away, remote access is disabled on the router, i had to jump on a server that is directly connected to the router and then access the router. I shared my screen and he freaked out seeing the cli. The cherry on the top: he wrote a long message giving example of me and saying that he doesn't want us doing that. Cuz according to him why use cli while you have web interface? -
