Howdy this is a daily reminder on why you can't trust anyone with shared information.

I am back home from uni for the holidays and like any computer person who is back in town became responsible for fixing every tech problem that has occurred since my last visit. But what caught my eye when I approached the family computer is not the problem with the computer itself, it's the paper in front of the computer that, in giant lettering, has not only the passwords and account names of my mom and brother's AOL (She's old ok) and FAFSA account respectively but also someone's social security number. Any goddam baffoon who looks through the window or is able to take literally three goddam steps past the front door now has enough information to commit identity theft or just take over one of their accounts. I know it's not that likely but I still had a heart attack when I saw that.

How badly have I failed them?

My Dad: "Hey since you mostly use your desktop, could I borrow your laptop for my trip?"
He just wants to play World of Warcraft but there is no way I'm going to let him have access to my PC after years of fixing his computer. Because he's my dad and helped pay for the laptopn, I can't just say no without him getting flustered so this is what happened.

Me: "Yeah sure, you'll just need to find whether or not WoW, works with a windows emulator and hunt down how to configure that."

D: "Why can't you do it?"

M: "I've never done it. Its like the price to borrow."

D: >:| "I'll ask your brother."

He did end up borrowing my brothers laptop for the trip because he was running windows and didn't have a good excuse. I just helped him uninstall the blizzard client, WoW, avast, and McAfee that was installed over the weekend.

I am a student who is just starting out in cs and web design. I don't really like web design that much and don't see a future for myself but I run a small website for fun.

Whenever and I mean ｗｈｅｎｅｖｅｒ I show my roommate or friends a side project hosted on the site I get a 8 minute long speech about how an aspect of my design is flawed, how my color scheme is trash, and how I should do X thing instead. Whenever I argue and say that I like my design I'm met with "I'm the end user and the user is always right"
