I also love bread. You should make a sourdough yeast starter and start making your own bread. As for the job related stuff. Maybe get into game indie game dev. Set your own pace.
-
I prefer the dark side. Hail Satan!
-
@rusty-python ill have to educate myself on curses. Thanks for the advice.
-
@python3 I get what your saying. My rant was mostly frustration and not learning fast enough or remembering what to actually do. But it is frustrating that formatting can vary so much from person to person so it can get confusing.
I know the basics. It's clear when I do tutorials or try a new app.
I'm trying to make a text adventure for a practice project. If I ever actually get somewhere with it I may try to release it on pc. Maybe phones as well, but I realize when it comes to actually applying the things I know my mind goes blank when trying to do something on my own.
Life would be so much easier if could download the knowledge into my brain like the Matrix. -
I pretty much stick to DevRant and Twitter nowadays. FB is shit and Linkedin is going the same route.
-
This will be nice when I'm actually a competent programmer. My coding skills is currently lacking.
-
This would be better in Halolens. Should have bought one when I had the money. AR is better than VR. I have a Vive and as everyone else has stated it's hard to read stuff.
-
@hjk101 I'm pretty OCD about stuff I'm passionate aboutso yes the inconsistent formatting is driving me insane. I haven't heard of GO until now. Thanks for bringing it up. I'm very interested in the possibility of auto formatting.
I found this Medium article someone might be interested in. If your passed the allowed number of free articles simply open incognito mode and past the link and your good to GO. Pun intended.

@trogus it's cool to hear from the creator on this. I think the community would be fine with one every once in awhile. Hopefully you find a easier way to make them that doesn't take so much time.
-
@impune-pl good points. I'm still getting used to it so some of the more advanced features are beyond me. Windows forced updates suck.
-
@Demolishun no it's still autosave. I agree that is one of the things I don't like. I always worry my code isn't being saved. That and how resource hungry it is. That's definitely another rant lol.
-
He also claims he did nearly all the coding and the open source community had very little to do with the success of Emby.
-
Game cover art of the 1980s and 90s lol.
-
Weed is expensive with all the fucking taxes and middle man shit with going legal. It's cheaper to buy black market. This whole making sure it pure and not have something dangerous is an excuse to jack the prices up and middle man the shit out of consumers. Seriously. Fuck legal weed.
-
I wouldn't get shit done. This is a terrible idea.
-
@Parzi got a good point their.
-
The collegiate system is fundamentaly flawed and it's more about money than education for the universities. Elon Musk is for the most part against it as well. He even made a special school if I remember correctly.
I'd value and hire a person with real world experience over a book learner every time.
I was a butcher for nearly 10 years because my father used to own a shop and I worked my way up from the bottom learning as I went.
I got zero special treatment just because I worked for my father. In fact I was treated worse then his other employees.
It really bugs me that there are literally college classes to be a butcher. You don't need even a highschool diploma to be a good butcher. Or any traditional schooling for that matter.
You learn by doing. I'm a very big advocate for paid apprenticeships. Like the old days before everyone got it in their heads you gotta go to university for everything. -
@ddit lol I used to do that on an online game I played. I was publicly part of a well known guild but I was a double agent who was a secret member of a darker group who was known enemies with the guild I was publicly part of.
I'd feed them info on what locations the good guild would go to for bosses and treasure hunting and have them all slaughtered lol. Dick move I know but it was so funny how pissed they would get trying to figure out who the spy was. They never figured it out. Good times. -
@SortOfTested awesome. I played a lot of private shards over the years. Made a couple of my own as well. Ultima will always be a special part of my life.
The server your talking about. What was the name? There was this one specific one, I cant remember the name but a woman ran it.
It was very strict on the RP and had beautiful handcrafted custom maps. It almost felt like a different game. -
Look into Alaska. Lots of good reasons to move there.
-
@N00bPancakes I miss those good ole days. Nothing has ever really compared to how I felt back then and the connections and friends I made. RIP UO
-
@SortOfTested turns out your a kindred spirit after all. I may have misjudged you. I was Sonoma and was a long time member of the Peoples Army of Sonoma. Did you code official or private?
-
Sounds like you might be onto something.
-
@Nanos I've never heard of that engine till now but have heard of lua before. What made you decide to go that route from Godot?
I'll probably have to check it out. Love trying out new engines. I'm such a nerd for that kinda stuff. -
@devdiddydog yup. I love them all. But 9 is my favorite.
-
I would save for a new drive just in case. Not having a computer is a terrible feeling.
-
@neeno shit I wish I could plus 100 your comment. Game Dev can be insanely taxing. But ya download it sometime and play around. Don't try to be serious or build anything important. Just for fun ya know.
-
@neeno c++ is a pain but it's my favorite because Ultima Online was coded in it. In my opinion the best game ever made until EA ran it in the ground with their bullshit dlc and pay store. After T2A it started to become shit. If you can't go get the rare items like the rest of us veterans than you don't need them. Pay stores piss me off.

I got so fed up with Unity I went to the Godot Engine and began learning Python. They are pretty decent for 2d. 3d could improve but isn't terrible.
Spoke to the owner on twitter the other day. He very passionate about his work. They are getting a plug-in ready for python so you don't have to use GDscript.
He said it may be a little while before they implement because they want to make sure it's right. That's good because I can't stand how Unity uses it's users as QA. Also it supports C# for those interested coming from Unity.
Right now though fuck unity and there buggy updates and the external launcher. -
@Oktokolo I should probably education myself I guess. I'm really just going by the wankers here who bum with signs and have a BMW parked around the corner.
