I'm pretty sure the black screen in those electron apps is happening when memory runs out, like the "oh snap, it crashed" screen in Chrome, but less informative. But since it's just a webview the reload always helps for me as well.

@ebroda well you need to validate the certificate with the CA as end User to authenticate the server you are talking to since otherwise you got an encrypted connection but might be talking to a man in the Middle. This would mean any visitor has to contact LE as well - this is the point i was talking about. But if i'm wrong its even more ok to use LE, even for larger ecommerce, isnt it?

One of the main things whatsapp does is linking your Account to the phone number, or badically making your phone number your account. so chances are they just dont want it to be uncoupled for a good reason
