@irene in fact a really bad habit. One of my few sins
-
I tried doing xamarin and never got anything working out of it. Good luck!
-
Depends on the use case. As icons that aren't used that often and that are not really in a text it's pretty good. If it is used in text more often, then it's really painful to implement.

This shit is thaught in schools and Universitys. My teacher once gave me a point less just because I didn't use a result variable. Also in University I had a similar situation where I had to argue why i didn't use one.

I am building a complete hosting stack with docker. Writing scripts for nginx proxy and web hosting

I just have to add that also having a working system on the wrong Plattform, but being too lazy to set everything up on a new one. I.e. having php 7 on centos 7... It's too hacked for my liking
-
@lxmcf maybe windows has a "chill" mode that detects small cpu count. Other option would be that after startup windows tries to index all files for faster search and does pre computing for fast startup. Those things are so random that you simply cannot predict them. Would make the most sense
-
Is your host system dual socket? Maybe it had a wrong socket with wrong memory i.e dimms from socket 1 and cores from socket 2
-
@faramarz already on Linux VM! Thought about doing swift but don't like the language that much!
-
@coolq that's exactly the start point I needed <3
-
@faramarz technical it. But I am searching more for something to practice c or cpp
-
@irene yuuup that's exactly what happend 😂
Also they ramp up fast. She was a bit shocked when she suddenly woke up 😅 -
@runfrodorun would love to hear them ^^
Also I tried to create a Linux (distro?) myself.. but somewhere between creating the toolchain and compiling the kernel is my error. -
@runfrodorun That's pretty fkn awesome! But as long it's an, more or less, closed environment it's not this big of deal if it's not 100% secure!
-
@runfrodorun also nothing really braked down.. I just broke it myself somehow. But it's funny how a CPU reseat(swapping the bays) and a psu reset (same as before) can magically fix everything.. also my server doesn't seem to like new processors.. only the one it came with work.. even as single socket option, it won't take any other CPU
-
@runfrodorun soo it's a compiling cluster? Just curious how to set up a compilation cluster.. isn't compiling a linear process that has to be synced?
And ahhh now CFM makes sense, in consumer grade aftermarket fans (120mm) I sometimes read about it. Often airflow optimized fans advertise them with high CFM!
And colocation cost a sh*t ton of money.. wish I had a rack at a Datacenter! -
@runfrodorun but yes it's a fighting jet starting infront of you. Also if they are at low rpm they sound a bit like an air siren! It's a feeling you can't really describe ^^
-
@runfrodorun based on the fact I had to Google the abbreviations and still not knowing what CFM means, I have to say I am a student who bought used servers that are now in my room laying on a shelf.
I have exactly NULL experience in enterprise grade hardware, or the process behind maintaining such hardware!
Soooo what does CFM mean and is my assumption correct that mtbr means "mean time between repairs"? -
@nbamaral agreed, but space is limited !
Also she wasn't happy either when I debugged a hardware problem. -
@Deadmeatgames that's pretty neat! Discoverd my 2 core clocks down to 1.6 in power saving mode ! So 1.5 is not so slow ^^
-
That's exactly what I was looking for, for over a year!
I tried intel XDK but jeez... No.. -
@Deadmeatgames where do you find 1.5GHz CPUs? And we'll g5 is ddr2 and older architecture, g6 and g7 are more or less the same architecture!
-
@Deadmeatgames Same for me. The upper one is a single Dual core system, it is so loud, but I think it's because of the standard non ECC ram. The dual CPU rig is really quiet. My GF falls asleep besides it!
-
@irene as long as you only use a two slot GPU that's not too long, yes!
There are some 8pin and 6pin cables. -
@Deadmeatgames 12GB additional ram is on the way and new CPUs! So I will have 24GB RAM and 2x72GB 10k SAS, 2x300GB 10k SAS
And 1x64GB sad sata -
@epse actually not, it's really quiet! I was surprised how quiet it was!
-
@xalez yea more or less, but should have been I've always had. Also yea since I learned about rack servers I always wanted one :D
I know it sounds kinky but I may have a fetish for Datacenters.
