worked on a couple projects at work for a week. Forgot to back them up to the svn. The time comes to show my boss what I've done and the files are gone. woops.4

Do we have a problem with all new languages being thrown at us but little awareness of the need to write clean code?People seem think simple is old fashioned. I am not saying the new languages are wrong but it seems like we keep reinventing the wheel. I have seen ideas get recycled, discarded then re-emerge later. I have seen so many things last 5 years or less just to return later rebranded.

Got my first job in a web development company. I am on a trial period, which means at the end of two weeks they will evaluate my performance and give me a full time contact. As a trial I am given task to work on internal CMS system. And OMG!! the coding is horrible. I think someone can start from scratch and redo the entire thing faster the adding new features to that piece of Hell!! Am worried after 2 weeks my performance is going to look bad.10

I took a one month intern position for a company doing data entry. They had thousands of rows in dozens of spreadsheets, and they needed the data entered, row by row, into two different sites, and then link the two entries together.
After the first day I was ready to lose my mind. But... I'm a developer. You know where this is going 😉
At noon the next day, I emailed my employer: "hey, I finished all three spreadsheets you gave me, and I'm ready for more." A few minutes later I received an absolutely astonished phone call.
Long story short, I had all the spreadsheets entered by the end of the day (unfortunately putting the rest of the interns out of a job!), got paid a decent sum for the thousands of $ I saved them, and received a permanent position, where I'm still working today :)6 -
I'm very bad at reading someones code. For example when someone on uni asks me to help him with code I just write it from scratch, I can't find the mistake or even understand thoughts of this person. I'm afraid that when I'm going to work in team I'll be useless. Can I even do something with this?5
