About 6 weeks ago I gave up coffee. I have sleeping disorder so I figured give up as much caffeine as I can (I'm not gonna give up coke, are you crazy?) and I'm never gonna go back. The taste is a challenge to get just right and if you don't it can taste awful. Just drink tea. The most amazing kind of drink there is (assuming there are no cokes around).

Great idea
-
@Rethought I got a DXRacer OH/OC168/NR. It's designed for long sitting. Hope it's better than my previous chair which I'm sure is breaking my back bone.

I pulled the same shit on my CTO. But I think the reasons were completely valid. The said app was written by someone not working there anymore and the app needed new features. Since I was the only one having some basic knowledge of the codebase I rewrited the whole app to make it more accessible to current developers. It took me about 50hrs. I get yelled at a lot but after two months of adding features apon features to it I think it was completely worth it.

@aayusharyan I don't deserve this
-
You sound like my colleague. Talk to a senior or CTO or someone like that to bring in a designer or a frontend developer. It's not uncommon for companies to ask their developers in other departments to do other tasks is the company is under pressure but putting the said developer under stress and making them work 13hrs in a single day is just bullshit.
-
How did it go? If it hasn't already started best of luck to you.
-
Development with beer is da thing. Happy birthday 🍻

@Divisionbyzero activities to procrastinate over
-
I'm really temted to introduce a few fun activities for you! Not safe for work though, I'm not a monster.

It's trendy to hate JS. You really didn't know that?
Most reasons I've heard is something a 6-year old kid would give for why they wouldn't clean up their room. Just because every new developer uses it or it's not a low-level language. I also have heard legacy reasons like callback hell and forced use of jQuery and stuff like that.
Just ignore them. If you know what you are doing you would just write the code you want and optimize it afterward. Maybe even write only some part in JS and some part with some other language. Languages are tools. Choose whatever you want or whatever you are expert on. -
@taylorviktorya @theScientist Yeah I'm going to visit a doctor this week. Just as well bought an ergonomic keyboard today. I'm not taking any chances though. I'm not sure how to survive not working as a developer.
-
They are all the same, not much difference. I use Jest because np reasons lol.
-
Also dubstep for lazy work. Monstercat is good. Or 7 nation army on repeat.
-
Ambient sounds. Ambicular specifically.
-
Are they named Bagel Lab and sell tape measure? Cool.
-
@mngr So that's how programming has changed your life, unable to recognize semi-colon from a period. ROFL.
-
It's kinda embarrassing if you get muscular. Then everyone will KNOW.
-
A big trt/catch you say? Ha...
-
@serpent5 tbh I have encountered only 2 asshole senior devs. When I started working with other teams their main developers always were respectful and felt responsible. Maybe it doesn't have so much with ego as much as the mentality that they are fed up with the company but don't want to leave.

Awesome job handling the situation and talking to the management in the first place. I would have yelled the crap out of every senior in that place like a year ago.
If it's not possible to get anyone to help you get up to speed with the code base maybe it's not so bad to take another job, maybe even lower salary but with better work environment.
Working in such toxic environment with no work satisfaction and on top of that starting to doubt yourself if not good at all. Talk to the manager again and discuss these issues again, really talk it through and make sure they understand. Get reassigned to someone else and try to make their job to help you out.
I've worked with interns and felt all responsible to answer every question they might not even ask. It's bullshit what he puts you through.
On a totally different topic, I'm really interested to know where you are from. Morning prayers at work really got me. -
@SHA-256 i7 6700hq with 12gb of ram on ssd. How shitty is that?

@Codebeard I love in Iran and up to two years ago I earned around 350$. Since I was 18-19 I could buy buy an iPhone after a few months. You forget that the cost is around the same number.

Once I downloaded 9 gigabytes and the app crashed when attaching the parts together after download was finished and successfully deleted the parts!
