@endor I'm pretty sure we could take ideas from other industries outside of technology that have already solved this issue. Industries that have existed long before programming. These concerns are nothing new and have been managed. The tech industry could fix this by doing paid trial periods, training people, accepting that there is always risk when hiring, etc.

Oh yeah. Once I waited at my place and I heard the softest knock on my door (no doorbell was rung). I sprinted so fast like I was Usain Bolt. I was at the door in basically 5 seconds.

The door was glass, so I literally saw that the guy knocked once quietly and SPRINTED back to the delivery car, got in it and his friend hit the gas. I ran out shouting to give me my package. Of course they only sped up. He must've posted the "no one answered" note right when he walked up to the house because there was no way between the knocking and the running that he could've managed to have placed that.

Had to take 3 different buses for 2 hours to get to their dropoff point.

@Kyouma Nah mate, not empowering, infantilizing is more like it. I know some diversity hires, they never end up actually programming (which is my passion). They become "tech evangelists" and are basically glorified marketers for the company. I just want a call back. I'm trying to see if not disclosing gender nets me that now.

We have difficulty with retention rates because of this. People have told me to my face that they hate programming but want a good paying job. All it does is also isolate the passionate people from them because no matter how much I understand people want and need jobs, I want them to go get a different job and let me have the one I dream of.
