@j2k4 agreed! Let's just say that crappy methodology used by our predecessors is coming to bite us in our bottoms.
-
@vintprox not sure what you meant there, but in contrast, I'm trying to remember all the aspects I should he keeping in mind whenever I've to make the slightest changes..
-
@Ranchu there is a very detailed documentation, but only about the functional prospects. But a lot of the times, figuring out what a method is supposed to do and how it's doing that (or even if it is doing that) takes up a lot of time. It's so frustrating to identify which block is handling which functionality when you have fifteen methods wrapped up in one...
-
@netikras I think most of the code was migrated from an earlier platform to the current one using some kind of translator tool. So most of it still uses the functional approach.
Not sure whether I'm qualified to comment on the quality though.. -
Five... I meant five more pop up
-
At least tests are there so you know if the methods are working as they should.. what should you do if all you have is functional documents and no details on how they are implemented. You go about writing a class and find out 3 weeks later that the five methods you wrote in that class actually already exist scattered around in classes having drastic naming distinctions.

@rutee07 😂😂😂

@C0D4 I say "should work" almost every time a tester asks about something I developed. Our product is configurable to such an extent that we usually need to analyse the data dump for days before we can be definitive.
-
@BobbyTables I think the fact that every time someone quotes a percentage, my immediate thought being "where is your data" supports your theory.

try living at a slum where you only have power supply 10-12 hours a day and room temperature at 46°C
-
@just8littleBit 😂. Apparently you're not alone. Our examiner interrupted as soon as the TL started with "basically this project..." She told us that every presentation so far had started with the word "basically". It's fine if you're explaining something to someone unfamiliar with the subject, in front of a PhD, not a good idea..
-
@magicMirror nice! Hope you don't get in trouble while talking to the clients due to this😅
-
@Jilano 😂 hope you're not doing that on busy streets
-
Actually (another word I think I use to often), I think we try to over simplify most explanations without considering the intellectuality of the other party.
-
😂 It was brought to my notice during senior year major project viva. Since then I dread the use of 'basically'
