@Voxera I'm completely new to this app. I only knew its existance when the task has been assigned to me.
In order to proceed with the task i had to get it working to verify the email templates. But the table turn out missing.
I agree it could be because of database migration. -
@heyheni The table i mention above is referring to database table. Sorry if i didn't make that clear.
&
Yes! My wk env is using jsp, so is quite pure hard core codes -
@heyheni
I don't get to choose my own tech stack. -
I've a impression where management just want to make their client happy.
As long the clients pay the management will over sell and over promise. The developer will result in getting burnt out.
But that is not a concern of the management. As long the KPI is hit. -
Sounds like my situation.
-
@stop
You're rite. It is a map from a json response.
Painfully, i change my implemenation converting it from string into a hashmap. -
@C0D4
I'm from Singapore. =) -
@rutee07
Thanks for the great advice!
Money & Time it's always a factor when coming to further studies. -
@M1sf3t
I went for the cheapest uni. -
@matt-jd
I wanted a better prospect. I'm thinking of a job switch right after attaining my degree. -

I've been working as a software engineer for 4 years. Recently i got myself enroll with a local university.
My application got accepted. I'm in a dilemma to go for it. -
@KDSBest
Thanks for sharing!
I experience burnt out for the first time. Is literally hell.
I wanted to get out as well. But i didn't just for the money. I also regretted i didn't.
Each negative experience. Changes me as a person. -
@molaram Thanks for sharing!
I've been working as a software engineer for 4 years right after graduation. I still do not know what i want.
But had experience countless of burntout and disappointment. -
@someguyintheus I'm also in consulting.
-
@StopWastingTime
That is so true. When i first started off with my career. I'm promised that there will be senior to help me out.
But turn out they will and will always be busy. I manage to dig the code and search for reference.
That was how i manage to survive. But eventually i burnout by crazy demands from a mean direct supervisor.
It's not just start-up. Where i am at is in a MNC. But i believe start-up is way rush. But meeting a nassicsist is nasty. -
I wanted to do my degree with computing.
But after experience what is like to be working as a dev in the industry.
That feeling to continue studying really fade. -
@rutee07 spaghetti codebase is absolutely nightmare.
But management wouldn't careless. They demand the job done within deadline. That is the sick part we all dev had to face. -
@sqlkid Lovee your reply, thank you
-
@BobbyTables
Then is probably fine. The stuff i wrote are critical. But junit practice isn't in place.
It really depends on the organization.
I do get clients screaming all over the place. -
I know that feel.
-
Isn't something that is well tested before production. Is better then to panic all over when it broke in production.
That is where hell let loose?
The best way to test all functions, is via unit testing. Though i do agree. When refactor codes junit has to be amended.
But in the long run, it would be worth it? agree? -
Agreed, i wouldn't want to work with you either.

@CorneliusA
On the third day, in the job. I told my boss no offense. But the code in the project is a complete mess.
I had asked the boss. Is there a possiblity, of a revamp?
The boss replied no, the client are not willing to pay nor does the project has the resources to do a revamp.
I'm pretty much screwed. -
@Benutzername
I would love to hear your experience! -
@Stuxnet
Thank you for your reply!
I wanted to, i had a contract. Initially. I even had moments where i broke down. Totally.
It was between my grad school and the company. I got belittle so badly. I broke down during meeting. When my supervisor told me i had bugs the next day.
The previous day i rush that piece of work out till 4am.
The experience i had in the company. Completely change my personality. -
@rutee07
Thanks for your kind reply!
I love coding, which was the reason i got myself into working as a developer.
I enjoyed working on personal projects. In fact i can work on them all day.
Staring at disgusting code, at my workplace. With unrealistic deadlines, really got me asking myself. What have i done to deserve this karma.
Is true, the problem are the people. -
Me too! Coding is no longer pleasurable. But just for the sake of livelihood. That passion is literally wipe.
-
@hash-table
I'm in the sink or swim environment as well. Indeed they chose juniors to mentor. I wasn't one of them. I admit i actually resent.
My self-esteem fall to the lowest point. To the point i told my manager i hate coding.
Indeed, it do affects me. Now i am concern with what is the culture or another side. I would try to prevent the incident from re-occuring. -
@vlatkozelka
Not blaming, just felt embrassed. Just like a bad memory.
