The startup i work for, and built their app from scratch told me today that they ran out of money...im heart broken...angry...and no one in my life really gets why. I didn't just lose a job...i have to abandon something i made...3

I just got told that a codebase written in javascript / typescript can't be built to last.
This is the type of rediculous stuff us Web Devs have to put up with.9 -
Does anyone else get crippling fear anytime your boss wants a 1 on 1 meeting?
I always assume I'm getting fired and panic over it..even though so far that's never happened.12 -
Wow it's been years since I've been on dev rant. Awesome to see it still going.
I'm a react dev now ... Like all the other JS developers in the world4 -

I had a list that was built off a for loop.
One day the list was off by 1, and continued to be for a solid week...
Instead of solving the problem.. Added +1 to the incrementer variable.
Hasn't happened since (3 years)1 -
i'm seriously over mobile devs not understanding what backend architecture looks like.
the "we don't need a backend, we just need an API." statement drives me up the fucking walls. stop it, you should know better.

when one tool says your site is 200 from chinese IPs, but another says its 403 for the same IPs...

the worst documentation I've dealt with was (sadly) some I wrote myself.
We had a project - build with no maintenance agreement attached. so I half-assed the docs and tests... a year after launch we sign a support agreement and I'm struggling to figure out how the damn thing works! -
and this is why you dont let a first timer build your database....
"has 34 column names in index key list. The maximum limit for index or statistics key column list is 16"4 -
fighting with a submit button callback not firing..... at least the cat and I have good music to listen to.1
